Fighting the pregnancy blahs!

Update: The bored ramblings of a pregnant woman! Baby on board! Baby I'm bored!


So this is actually the time when I started feeling extremely bored being pregnant and yes, those raging hormones kick in so my tummy is getting bigger, I can't see my feet! I waddle when I walk,can't fit into my normal clothes and other physical changes that make me feel, well, blah! and it may seem that nine months is taking forever and now.. I'm getting tired of waiting!

That's why I started making a to do list in order to beat the pregnancy blahs!

- blogging or blog hopping or check my Friendster and yahoo mail every time I get extra bored just to pass the time..which happens all the time! lol
- prepare a scrapbook or pregnancy journal. Start with the baby book I bought last month!
- scan my baby's 4D pix!
-watch a movie once a week! Movie marathon! Start with Prison Break season 2 or Heroes 2 :)
- watch Amazing Race Asia 2 every Thursday
- exercise every day, ( I repeat! EVERYDAY! ) which includes treadmill for 15 mins. and stationary bike for another 15 mins. Don't forget stretching, warm up and cool down!
- making myself attractive by taking time to groom myself and putting on some make up to feel better. lol
- shop for baby stuff. Check my list!
- Text galore! Type Unlitxt20 then send to 2870. then text all my friends! lol


So for now,I'm just busy blogging about how bored I am... then take a shower! watch PBB and then sleep! haha

and tomorrow? the mind boggles! I'll just stare out the window and keep thinking about how to fill my time or just try to do what I just added in my to do list! Any suggestions or violent reactions are welcome.

Ready, Set, Race! :)

and these are just few of the teams I'm rooting for!

It started in Singapore which is one of my fave tourist destination and the last pitstop was in Fort Santiago that made them eating our very own exotic food...balot! :)
The Japanese team. Daichi & Sawaka deserve the award for the most well behaved team. There is something about this brother Sister duo that just appeals to me and Daichi is cute!
The Filipino hunks are also one of my faves although the feisty Pam and Van left them eating their dust at the pitstop...but I still believe they are the team that's most likely to win! They're a combination of good looks, hot bods and a little brain and brawn power! Go Team Philippines!
Speaking of Team Philippines, I so love Henry and Trinidad because I find them really funny, hilarious..rubbish! haha and even if Trinidad is a nagging, uncontrollable wife and Henry is retired US Navy officer, and they argue all the time, I still find it sweet that although they scream and shout in the middle they still kiss at the end of the leg like nothing happened.. now thats real relationship :) and good TV too..I personally love them singing the Lupang Hinirang and Henry dancing his own version of Itaktak mo! haha He is cool,funny and lovingly patient with his wife and he must really love her that much to last 13 years of marriage , in short, he is what we called under-de-saya! coz if not, he probably posted an ad saying, "URGENT SALE! mean annoying wife!!!" hehe but seriously,I really think that they really should start pushing the lightning speed button to stay in the race!

Sure there's a lot of pretty faces like Paula and Natasha, Aurelia and the lovely Kinaryosih. It's hard to miss the beauties and hot hunks or cute guy like Daichi! Let the droolfest begin! haha OH well...So I'm beginning to wonder what's the real score to be one of their contestants. haha as if I'm planning to be one! haha why not?! BUT! IMHO, it’s cool to put one, two or even three pretty faces from the ‘biz’ in the show. But more than 5 or 6? I think that sums up one unspoken rule of the game is to be a looker and uber famous in your country and you're guaranteed to secure a sure spot in their lineup! or are they just desperate enough to get lots of sponsors, viewers and high ratings that they just looked for the celebs to endorse the show? which is supposed to be a reality TV what happens now with choosing the "real people"? Hmmm... or maybe it's their celebrity edition like PBB! haha I hope I make sense! lol now I'm confused! but still, it's good TV! :)
Lastly, (before I can't stop myself from ranting) aside from Mark and Rovilson, I think Collin and Adrian of Singapore has a fair chance of winning. The most unique pair from all the racers coz Adrian has a hearing disability and Collin is great at sign language! Think about how much advantage they’ll have in the race, as they don’t have to actually ‘hear’ one another. And despite the hearing thing, they are both very determined to win. But hell yeah, I still go for the Philippine Team. :)
So, from next week onwards, I will have to mark this important time of the week and be glued on TV! A Must Watch! Thursday at 9pm, at the AXN channel, The Amazing Race Asia season 2. :) As for me, it's a cheaper alternative of visiting Asia at the comforts of my laziness at home... a weekly addiction for couch potatoes or chronically bored preggers like me! haha so I'll just sit back, relax and see what happens...

Pimp my Pride! The Filipina Pride: I'm damn proud to be P.H.A.T.!

just finished checking this uber cool site (read: Filipina ) and it inspires me to write something about it.. or something about me...being proud to be PHAT! oh yes I'm P.H.A.T., so what?? and to those haters, you can kiss my P.H.A.T.

and if you'll ask me why it feels great to be pinay,

here are the reasons why! ^.^

1. Pinay has the "attitude" We all know that Filipina are not just sexy and smart but has a great personality. They have a close family ties and having a Pinoy Family would really mean something, real closer bond with each family member to the extent of including the extended family members. We Pinay tend to be really close to our familiar I think this is set from the Spanish time or even from the pre-historic period. Our values ties us this much that we can never let anything break into it.

2. Pinay has the pimping pride of our country's natural resources - Who wouldn’t be proud about our lush green virgin *ahem!* forest, our white sand beaches ( BORA! ) and all the beautiful places here in the Philippines. well, I am! :) and I pimp my pride to be Pinay!

3. Pinay cooks best! OMG! I greatly am proud of this look at me and am a living proof that Pinay recipes are one most delicious, delectable, mouth-watering and savory dishes around! I want Lechon!!! Sinigang na baboy! Bulalo! and a LOT more...Haha!

4. Pinay knows how to strut her stuff. We, and that should include me, :) are certified and glammed up fashionista. We certainly know what's hot or not! and we're definitely HOT!

5. Pinay has always been tough and headstrong. We know how to stand up for ourselves and support our own convictions or express our own opinions. We stand up for those we love and we speak our mind and try to do things our own Filipina way.

6. Pinays are strong-willed. We are determined to succeed even in a man's world! We (pinays) rule! Yebah!

7. Pinays are beautiful, glamorous and so fab! Well, that's so obvious coz it definitely shows every ounce of beauty that we have! ahem! :)

I'm uber proud to be P.H.A.T... I embrace the title and I'm proud to bear it coz I don't want to take anyone's crap! I want what I want when I want it and I'm sure there's nothing wrong with that... right? I don't get offended when they tell me I look so Pinay because of the things I say and do.. I hope they just don't say that coz most Pinays don't have that pointed nose, big boobs or long legs...and what's wrong if we're pango?? haha Be proud. Be P.H.A.T. I'm not ashamed of being one coz I have the courage and strength to be me and to be who I truly am! I'm definitely P.H.A.T. and I wear it well!

all i want is...

... a banana split ice cream! and rocky road!!! yummers! :) suddenly... a sweet, tempting sugary vision pops into my head...and I'm craving for ice cream but I can only dream of indulging til I finally give birth.. :(

so I just close my eyes in ecstasy as I take a spoonful of this mouth-watering ice cream treat
, then my body heaves with delight.. self-indulging at the moment, a gratified smile..and I’m done. hmmm...I've never craved for ice cream like this before...and I can only dream. :p

in the left corner, weighing in at 17.1 lbs., wearing absolutely nothing...halleeer! duh!?! haha she's obviously a newborn. it's Nadia...hehe I just came across this amazing photo and yes, she was a C Section baby! coz I'm pretty sure her mom won't even hesitate for a C section anyway..and I'm sure it's her only option! She's a 17pounder , a sumo baby (read: BIG! HUGE! OVER-SIZED! HEAVY?) I'm wondering if her mommy is diabetic like I'm praying that my baby won't be so big or else... huwaaaah! :) hoh well... She sure is heavy and I'm wondering how big her mum was at the time she was pregnant but imagine someone seconds after giving birth and she has already lost 17 lbs.. wow! as for me, for the record, I lost 20 lbs. after 6 months!

and before I forget, look at the baby in the right corner, it looks like it's saying, "Dang! This isn't a fair fight!" waaah!!!

Sleepy? Drowsy? sleep-deprived? i think that's me!

Frankly pregnant...

-> This is the prescribed and probably the best sleeping position for pregnant woman like me and I've been doing this for the last 5 months but these past few days, it's not working for me at all! or maybe I'm just having an insomnia... I'm wide awake in the middle of the night but sleepy and tired the whole day... ( ding! eye bags alert!).. so there's back pains, insomnia, heartburn and then some... *me whining*

So I just try and try and try to do my best to follow the tips I've gathered from my friends and the pregnancy books that I have, so here they are:
  • sleep on your left side to allow for the best blood flow to the fetus and to your uterus and kidneys. Avoid lying flat on your back for a long period of time.
  • Water!!! Drink lots of fluids during the day, but cut down before bedtime.
  • To prevent heartburn, do not eat large amounts of spicy, acidic (such as tomato products), or fried foods. If heartburn is a problem, sleep with your head elevated on pillows.
  • Exercise regularly to help you stay healthy, improve your circulation, and reduce leg cramps which I cannot do on a daily basis 'cause I feel so sleepy the whole day.
  • Special pregnancy pillows and wedges may help you sleep better. Or use regular pillows to support your body...that's why I've got lots of pillows but is there such thing as magic pillow? thinking...
  • Naps may help.
  • Relax. Unwind. Meditate? ( I'm trying..)
oh well... I need to get some Zzzzzs...

Worry? Me?

Worry? Me? Naaah...Worry was not a part of my vocabulary until I was 16 weeks pregnant. I just had a conversation with one of my friends about the joys of being pregnant. The frequent urination, morning sickness, and back pains just to name a few.

And at that 16th week of my pregnancy, I stopped in the bathroom on my way back to my desk to take part in one of the many joys (frequent urination) and there it was. The word all pregnant women dread. Spotting. My entire world changed from that moment on.

I went for a monthly check up with my OB the next day and I told her what I had seen. "It was brown,” She said I needed to take some tests and have a complete bed rest to prevent preterm labor. So I did exactly what my OB ordered.

At the 23rd week of my pregnancy, I felt the prick of the needle for a couple of times in my arm, (ouch!) I could feel the pit in my stomach get deeper and deeper. I had to take the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test because my blood sugar is high. I was referred to a nutritionist to start a new diet plan. So for the second time, I did what a rational and obedient mummie in my situation would do.

No one could take away the uncertainty I felt. No hugs or kisses from my hubby. No word of encouragement from my friends. How could anybody understand how I felt? I was scared about what was going to happen if I was going to lose my baby... and if ever that time comes and nobody's there to help me. What would I do? When would it happen? Would it hurt? How painful could it possibly be? I felt alone. But right now, I'm trying so hard not to worry... the little life in my belly is still growing. I am just happy to say that I am now 7 months pregnant with my baby Dana Chanelle.

Now I’m not saying all the worry is gone. It is still very much there. Just not as sharp as it was those past few weeks but I truly believe that all the anxiety I felt for those weeks made me a stronger person. Worry can be an obstacle that keeps you from seeing the little light and the end of the tunnel. Or in my case, the “little life” at the end of my tunnel. =)

pregnancy blues? anyone?

whew! the clock is ticking and the count down is on! and because my belly is getting bigger each day,leg cramps and back pains, I can hardly get a good nights sleep.

Not only am I dealing with some of the pregnancy blues, but I recently had back pains almost every day.

My question is how many other mummies have endured painful pregnancy problems?
Out of the 17 symptoms I just posted, I can say that I have experienced 12! Thank God I have been saved from acne, melasma, rash, swollen ankles and carpal tunnel and pregnancy-induced hypertension... or maybe they are just about to appear soon?? waaah! I hope not...

uber delighted with my tapdancing and kickboxing baby!

Recently, I noticed my belly vibrating as my baby tap-danced a new dance number under my felt like a heartbeat or a rhythmic beat inside my tummy.. I found out that it's actually baby hiccups! it worried me at first but when I knew it's normal, I found it's so fascinating that I forgot all about watching the new season of prisonbreak. hehe Yep, the wonders of being a first time mom that we can be entertained by such little things… I'm uber delighted when I felt my baby’s little fluttering movements mostly at night and I also got worried when she's not making any movements so I just say a prayer that she's ok and that's she just having her beauty sleep. :) The real reward was when I felt my baby’s tap-dance routine or one of her kickboxing sessions...and that's exactly what my OB refers to as quickening...meaning, baby moving,kicking,jabbing,dancing? I often wonder what my baby is doing in my tummy to make such rapid movements..

Even though my baby Chanelle has been moving more and more frequently, the movements are still quite soft and a friend told me I'm about to experience rib pains when my baby starts kicking my ribs. Occasionally, she’ll make a movement that is quite startling because of the force behind it, although these are quite few and far between. I suppose I ought to be grateful because I have been warned of the time when her kicks and punches will keep me up at night..

Over the last few days, my baby has taken to traumatising my bladder. She’ll hit a sure spot inside that feels as though he’s thrown a punch in the direction of my bladder because I’ll feel a sudden urge to pee that goes as quickly as it waking up to make weewee at 3 or 4 am is a normal thing to me now...and that includes tripping on my way to the bathroom. Thankfully I haven’t had any accidents so far. I wonder if it is because I still have less than three more months to go or if it is because the Kegel exercises are working... hmmmm...

preggy , biggie and clumsy me!

I’ve heard that by a certain stage of pregnancy, tripping while walking and spilling food during meals can be a common disaster. Well, I’ve already being clumsy even if I'm trying to be super careful na. Whether it’s due to the fact that the enlarged belly prevents me from getting closer to the table or the increased clumsiness reported by most books, it seems I’m not just the size of a hippo but also a big blob when it comes to meal times. hehe The worst of it is that sometimes I’m not even aware of it!

Crumbs on my shirts are also becoming a regular thing to me... haha

The other difficulty I’m experiencing with the enlarged baby bump involves reaching for items at or near my feet. For instance, cutting my toe nails is another task requiring some acrobatics on my part since bending at the waist has become a very difficult task for me.

Carrying bags of any sort is considered a task too strenuous for preggos regardless of the fact that they contain items barely weighing more than a kilo, if that. Then there was the lady that bumped into me while I was wondering around the shopping mall. It wasn’t her fault because I hadn’t been watching where I was going. It's a good thing I already hired a helper to help me carry the bags. anyways..Ate Rosie, our new helper, is nice and masipag but it's funny coz she's sooo vain, considering she's already 42 years old, she loves looking for whitening creams and lotions everytime we go to to the supermarket...and she was elated when I bought her a whitening soap! haha this is a lil off topic but lemme tell you a funny story about her, we went to Glorietta and SM yesterday and she said it's her first time to go there so she was really excited and when we passed by a shoe store in G4, she asked me if she could buy the shoe kasi it's super cheap daw, 40 lang daw so we went back to check it... and when I saw the shoes it's 40 nga pero 40% discount hehe hoh well, it's silly but it made me smile.

so..going back to the topic, hehe, poor posture is the other issue I face. I tend to slouch a lot when I’m what I'm doing now! and I feel my boobies resting on my rapidly expanding tummy. I’m starting to develop red marks just under my breasts at the point where they contact my belly. haha

and now that my tummy has grown, I just hope I won't waddle when I walk... :)

chinese calendar ..turns be right! tee hee!

Before I knew my baby's gender, I consulted the Chinese calendar! It's a girl based on the charts below. Turns out it was right. It seems that if you follow these charts, you can determine the sex of your baby even before the doctors know. Evrybody's tellin me it's a girl except for my first OB.. engg! wrong guess!but that's not exactly the reason why I changed my OB hehe

hoh well... Based on his calculation, our little one is a little girl! my baby chanelle!

Okay, so how do you predict?

You take the age of the woman when she conceived (you need the Chinese age, which is usually about a year older than the regular age we count by) for me, it's 26
+1=27 hehe galing ko talaga sa math! woohoo! and then the month of conception (i strongly believe that's may!) and check the charts below. Based on the wisdom of our ancestrs, word on the street is that these charts have proven to be 99% accurate for thousands of people. Believe it, don't believe it, well, you can test it out for yourself.

Use the chart below if your Chinese age during conception is: 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31

You can choose for yourself whether you want a boy or a girl by following the chart. The woman’s age from 18 to 45 (Chinese reckoning) is on the top line while the months Jan to Dec indicate the month when the baby is conceived. By following the chart you will be able to tell in advance whether your baby will be a boy or a girl. Thus, you can plan to have a boy or a girl.

This chart has been taken from a Royal tomb near Peking, China. The original copy is kept in the institute of Science of Peking. The accuracy of the chart has been proved by thousands of People and is believed to be 99 percent accurate. By reckoning, you follow a line drawn from the figure representing the woman’s age to a line drawn from the month the baby is conceived.
For instance, if the woman is 27 years old and her baby is conceived in Month 1 (according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar), then her baby will be a girl. The chart is based on the month the baby is conceived and not on the birth of the baby, B-Male, G-Female.

Remarks: A Chinese Scientist discovered and drew this chart which was buried in a Royal tomb about 700 years ago.

But wait, there's more... If you're planning your next baby, there are certain things you can do to increase the likelihood of one sex over the other... This was sent to me by a friend so I'm afraid I can't credit the source of where it came from. I analyzed it...actually, I've over analyzed it and some of them are true!!! jeeez!

Man’s sperm consists of X & Y spermatozoa, X spermatozoon decides the female whereas Y is the male. Referring to these physiological properties of the spermatozoa, gynecologists set up the theory of ‘Choice of a girl or a boy’.

1st factor: Food
If you want a baby girl:
Husband must eat more alkaline food, wife eats more acidic food.
If you want a baby boy:
Husband eats more acidic food, wife eats more alkaline food.

Alkaline food: vegetables, fruits, egg white, milk, algae, etc.
Acidic food: meat, seafood, etc.

in my case, eventhough the pregnancy is totally unplanned, I remember eating mostly chicken and jollyhotdog! haha and I really love the BArbie doll in Decades! yummy!!

2nd factor: Timing (When to do it?)
If you want a baby girl:
Frequent copulation during pre-ovulation period.
If you want a baby boy:
Copulating just before ovulation or just after ovulation.

How to confirm ovulation period:
Body temperature increases (you may want to use SPC chart to monitor your body temperature here).

I wasn't able to check my body temp ...the first thing I noticed was my pulse...uber fast and I have an electrocuting power! nakukuryente ko mga peeps! hihi

3rd factor: Penetration (How to do it?)
If you want a baby girl:
Husband to avoid deep penetration in the female vagina during copulation.
If you want a baby boy:
Deep penetration by the husband is suggested.

- X: Marathon runner with good stamina
- Y: Sprinter but poor stamina
So, with deep penetration, the chances for Y to reach destination will be higher. i know! lol

4th factor: Stimulation
If you want a baby girl:
Wife should avoid stimulation during copulation. Secretion from female vagina becomes alkaline when stimulated, therefore this promotes the activity of Y spermatozoon.
If you want a baby boy:
Husband ejaculates after wife has been stimulated.

5th factor: Wife’s Preparation
If you want a baby girl:
Rinse the vagina with solution dissolving 2 spoonfuls of white vinegar in 1 liter of water. Since an acidic condition decreases activity of Y spermatozoon.
If you want a baby boy:
Rinse the vagina with solution dissolving 2 spoonfuls of soda in 1 liter of water.

6th factor: Positioning
If you want a baby girl:
Female to be on the top position & male to be on the bottom position.
If you want a baby boy:
Male to be on the top position & female to be on the bottom position. This posture allows the Y spermatozoon to reach the destination faster.
