How Costa Coffee Made a Girl's Dream Trip to London a Reality

For many Filipinos, visiting London would be a memory of a lifetime, with so many world-class sights to see. Imagine a #LondonStyle relaxation listening to the sound of rain while sipping on a Costa Crafted Green Tea Latte.

So, how do you make a dream trip to London a reality?

 

It's as simple as recording a 30-second video, singing a song from any British artist, then uploading it on Instagram. Seriously, I can't believe you can win a round trip ticket for 2 in London, U.K. for free, just by singing your heart out. It seems too good to be true, but hey, dreams do come true. Thanks to Costa Coffee's #SingYourWayToLondon promo.

The competition was inspired from vlogger Vince Vandorpe, after he impressed Costa Coffee barista  while singing  British classic at the counter, winning a free cup of coffee in the process. That's how Costa Coffee launches a search calling for aspirants to send in a video of them singing a British song.

"Filipinos are known for their gift in music. And Costa's London style is all about celebrating talents and craft. Hence it was perfect opportunity to do this and we were thrilled with the response," says Cindy Poh, Costa Coffee Regional Marketing Manager Southeast Asia and New markets.

Last October 16, five finalists battled it out at the Costa Coffee Robinsons Galleria branch with a British song of their choice for a chance to fly to London!

After a quick introduction, the finalists went head-to-head as they sought to impress the judges: social media influencer David Guison, singer-siblings Kiana and Paolo Valenciano and Atty. Gilbert Millado, General Counsel of Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. I enjoyed all their performances but my top 2 faves were Jyl and Pia.

The criteria for judging included voice and presentation skills, audience response and adherence to the British theme. In the end, Jyl Orila emerged as the winner of the #SingYourWayToLondon contest. She received an all-expenses paid trip to London, as well as other prizes.
