Get Blown Away at Cedar Salon

If you have been disappointed, frustrated or underwhelmed with a hair salon before, you would understand why I’ve always avoided going to salons. Why? Maybe it was my previous bad experience of having my precious hair chopped off that I’d spent patiently growing for a long time or perhaps it was the idea of putting my trust again into a complete stranger.

However, it's also a good idea to embrace change and have a quick beauty break sometimes. I'm pretty sure you know how the pollution, traffic, and unpredictable weather can all lead to dry and unmanageable hair! That's why we all need a much-needed ME time before the days get crazier.

So when I was told by Martha of Beauty Junkee (who is one of the prettiest beauty bloggers around) to give Cedar Salon a try, I jumped at the chance and I finally (yes, finally!) plucked the courage to get my hair done.

Cedar Salon is the newest concept salon in Manila, guaranteeing V.I.P. treatment. This sophisticated salon tucked away in the heart of San Juan has that luxurious and relaxing vibe with a touch of sophistication, infused with great work ethic.

As soon as I walked into the salon, I was greeted by the lovely receptionist who is very warm and friendly. The staff are all professional and very helpful too. Lack of courtesy and customer service is one of my ultimate pet peeves, so I'm glad to know that this salon provides impeccable service.

Also, the details here are just a cut above the rest, simple yet elegant. Actually, I always judge a salon by the smallest details because if you're seeing exotic flowers like Birds of Paradise on a beautifully-crafted wooden table and a nice, monochromatic chair to be extra chic and to match the spa-inspired interior, you know they're going to be just as detail oriented with your hair. I mean, how could you possibly go wrong?

Owner Christine Rodriguez recalls the very reason why she thought of re-conceptualizing the salon experience with Cedar: "I felt like my life was boring, routinely and dull, and the idea hit me to start a unique concept for a salon." To wit, Christine's hunger for escape reflects the service that Cedar gives its customers: a chance to reinvigorate the senses and get a fresh charge of confidence brought by beautiful hair. Premium hair services plus complementing beauty treatments complete the whole Cedar experience. It's an exciting prospect—a hair salon that's so relaxing, the rest of your body take suit. That's a few hours of precious girl time certainly well spent.

All the hair styling products that they use are from Schwarzkopf Professional. However you spell it, I'm a huge fan of this high quality, luxe brand. I'm currently using BC Bonacure Hairtherapy Smooth Perfect Shampoo and Conditioner, and both are great hair helpers. I have thick, frizzy hair and it's usually hard to manage, almost like a poodle or Lion King kind of hair in this crazy weather! (Thank you, humidity!) But Schwarzkopf does the trick and it really tames my unruly locks.

The stylist ran me through a few options I could go for. They will politely ask what you want for your hair, and then they will tailor the treatment to the nature and needs of your hair. I decided to get the combo; Cut + Blow dry + Style + Spa Essence Deep Repair Treatment, with Manicure and Pedicure.

I had a manicure while my feet were soaked in lukewarm water. For a change, I chose a pastel-colored nail polish for my nails.

Latest obsession: matte pastel nails.

After the treatment, this is how my hair turned out! I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the outcome. It transformed my horribly rooted, shapeless and extremely dry hair into soft, glossy locks. The treatment created the smoothness, volume, shape and movement that my hair needed.  It is ideal for dry, damaged or color-treated hair of all textures, leaving the hair silky, full of movement and bounce.
