A Taste of Seoul Food at Kogi Bulgogi

Annyeong Haseyo! I recently got to try a one of a kind gastronomic experience at Kogi Bulgogi where my palate enjoyed the lovely taste of “Seoul” food.  Let me just preface with the fact that I haven't been to an actual Korean restaurant before (just some passing experiences with Korean fusion) so this was a bit of an adventure. It ended up being a wonderful dining experience and one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Kogi is Korean for meat, and Bulgogi is a dish of marinated beef cooked with onions, one of Korea’s most popular dish.

Also, I was extremely excited to try their new menu, Kogi’s Korean Fried Chicken or KPOP Chicken, also known as Yangnyeom chicken in Korean. It comes in two flavors, one is the sweet soy and the other is the spicy soy version. Kogi Bulgogi specializes in tempering your orders’ spice level from 0 – 10. This service is specially appreciated by Filipino market, where you may request your dishes adjusted to your preferred spice level.

And I seriously love the spicy soy Kpop chicken! It was freshly cooked, very juicy inside and really crunchy and crispilicious outside with a perfect amount of spice.

Kpop chicken was the best I've had to date.  I also noticed that they offer Soju  beer for the authentic Korean experience. Kpop Chicken + Soju= Best Combo! Aja!

The menu items will give your plate a taste that brings you to Korea. We warmed up with its complimentary six mini Korean appetizers they call Banchan. It has the usual kimchi, sweet and spicy dilis (fish), sweet potatoes, cooked veggies, bean sprout salad and some nuts.

Kogi Bulgogi has a delightful fare of Korean dishes with Bulgogi being the bestseller. Other favorites in the restaurant are the Japchae, Soft Shell Crab Salad, Sae-u Twigim, Deungshim Gui, and Kimchi. Aside from its distinct spicy flavors, Korean cuisine noticeably balances their meals with vegetables which makes for an ideal dining experience.

Soft Shell Crab Salad (Php 225-Regular; Php 380-Large)
I love salad so I tried something different to thrill my tastebuds. Soft Shell Crab Salad, an all-day starter, is a perfect mix of my favorite greens embellished with soft shell crab. Loved it!

Bulgogi Dub Bap /Beef Bulgogi (Php 255)
You say beef bulgogi, I say delicious. The perfectly crafted Korean blend of sauces is what really made this dish excellent, from its quality to the immensely well-marinated flavor. The meat (they use premium US Beef) went well with everything.. the steamed rice, as well as the veggies. You can order extra lettuce, carrots, raw egg or banchan as they are good fillers but I prefer more bulgogi beef than the extras. *wink*

California Roll (Php 160- 6pcs; Php 310-12 pcs)
I don't think you've experienced love until you eat this California roll, fresh crabsticks, mango and rice rolled in fish roe. Yum!

Saeu-U / Tempura (Php 350)
And of course, I could never forget my daughter's favorite, Sae-u or Tempura, deep fried prawns in light tempura batter.  I guess it was everything I imagined it would be. Assuming it was delicious since I wasn't able to try it because my daughter didn't even share and ate everything off her plate. Lol

Japchae (Php 258)
My order came in last, a huge plate of Japchae, which came at our table just smoking hot (like me, or maybe not). The stir fried vermicelli and veggies are generous, and the diced meat came out tender. I took my first bite and smiled. The joy that only Japchae can bring.

Kogi Bulgogi is a restaurant that can be enjoyed with meals to share. It is a hit for groups that are composed of families and friends. Coupled with the great service and the abundance of offerings makes your meal pleasurable, making Kogi Bulgogi a top choice for gatherings and celebrations. So go grab a seat at Kogi Bulgogi and enjoy these Seoulful meals!

They have branches in Eastwood City Mall, Lucky Chinatown Mall, Promenade, Greenhills and the newly opened Kogi Bulgogi restaurant in Gateway Mall.
