A Sweet Home of Goodies at Rome's Patisserie

Who knew there was a world of sweetness right around the corner of Vito Cruz? I do now!

Rome's Patisserie is a small kiosk that you will instantly fall in love with as you gazed in at the glass-filled pastries, cupcakes, sweets, sweets and more sweets. My sweet tooth definitely led me here and  I knew I came to the right spot.

This is right in the busy area of Vito Cruz, Taft Avenue near DLSU, at the 2nd floor of University Mall. Rome's Patisserie was named after the owner, Chef Rome, who welcomed us. Chef Rome was as warm as if he was inviting us into his home. ( And it actually rhymes! ) How often do you encounter that?

Service reigns supreme at Rome's Patisserie and if more people treated each other the way Chef Rome treated us, the world would be a better ( and much sweeter) place. He's straight up awesome and super hands on.

The kiosk itself is lovely and full of light, shabby chic but relaxed, and with little adorable touches here and there plus the deservedly beautiful array of sublime desserts. The desserts range from uniquely-flavored little revel bars to big over the top cakes and extravagant puff-pastry cupcakes!

We tried the revel bars, cream cheese brownies, walnut brownies, food for the gods, brookies and some cupcakes. I must say that these flavors were so well thought out. I mean there was so much flavor packed in such a tiny packaging.

The revel bars was hands down decadence in a bite. The two layers of oatmeal cookie dough filled with a rich chocolate walnut fudge fudge in the center played so well together that it was better than a ride on a merry go round! The revel bars are packed in 8 slices (Php100.00), 16 slices (Php170.00) and 32 slices (Php320.00)

I also fell in love with the eclair.  The crunchy exterior envelopes a smooth custard that gushes out in all its glory the second I took my first bite. It's absolutely wonderful in taste, with its fluffy cream that just dissolved in my mouth. Nothing too sweet, heavy or overpowering. Warning: Chocoholics are likely to become addicted to this one.

This place probably is best known for the revel bars and eclairs, but there are a bunch of other sweet treats in the display case. Like cupcakes perhaps?  The cupcakes look so elegant, I just looked at them for the longest time, taking in the designs.

The moist carrot cupcake topped with cream cheese frosting, finished with  a carrot sugar decor was delish. It's moist yet fluffy, sweet but not overpowering, and it's totally different from your average carrot cupcake (and even that doesn't do it justice lol). No lie, it's one of the best cupcakes I've ever had.

Dulce de leche is love. It's a vanilla cupcake frosted with a creamy caramel fudge icing on top. It has really opened my eyes and my taste buds to what a great dulce de leche cupcake tastes like.

The chocolate cupcake is divine with its chocolate ganache icing tempered perfectly, it just melts in your mouth. Perfect cocoa content for my liking.

The shelf life of the pastries is up to 3-4 days, stored in a chiller. For carrot and red velvet flavot, it costs Php55.00 per cupcake. For Choco banana, dulce de leche, cookie butter, kitkat and chocolate reese peanut butter, it's Php 65.00 per cupcake.

Bottom line, it's a nice quirky stop for a quick dessert that is quickly becoming an icon and should be on your list. Seriously, if you go to Rome's Patisserie, try the cupcakes, or any of their freshly baked pastries for that matter. You won't regret it.

So stop in and grab a box of these sweets and enjoy the many flavors.  Remember, you can't buy happiness but you can buy cupcakes and that's kind of the same thing.
