Summer is Hotter with Banana Boat Sunscreen Lotion, Schick, & Nuffnang

It is summer and it’s hot. And it's about to get even hotter with Banana Boat Sunscreen Lotion, Schick, & Nuffnang.

Summertime can't come fast enough though 'cause I already have all kinds of plans already made. But still, I really can't help but think of my ideal Nuffnang summer. I dream of a place uninterrupted. I dream of a week, or maybe 2 or 3, a truckload of grilled bbq and steak quarters and some beer or a glass of fruit shake. No interruptions. No stress. No worries. Well, that's just a rough estimate of my ideal Nuffnang Summer.

Actually, my ideal Nuffnang summer is going to a place where I can enjoy some peace and quiet. Either that or my ultimate summer would be to go to on a trip either to Bohol or to Coron, at the beach as the ending desitination.
me and my lovey at the beach :)
I love the beach and I like it when the sun shines on my face and when I feel the sand between my toes.

Here's a few of my fave pics from last summer.
Boracay last Holy week, April 2011
Summer family vacay at Boracay last June 2011
As for me, it doesn't have to be anything expensive or elaborate. I would take along my family and my good old trusty camera. First, to have fun and second, to capture the fun, unscripted moments that inspire my summer shenanigans. I simply think of all the pictures I can take and all of the places I could explore.

I also like riding the banana boat. If it's possible, I'd spend the whole day jet skiing, parasailing and riding the banana boat. I kinda wanna move to the beach and be one of those banana boat dudes for the rest of my life. But, I repeat, BUT I refuse to fall off and come off of it with scraped knuckles. :)

Speaking of banana boat, Banana Boat sunscreen lotion will surely be my BFF. I believe in their tag line, "Banana Boat Sunscreen Lotion. We've got you covered." Because it really got me, literally and figuratively, covered! With it, I could take a moment to bask in the glory of Mr. Sun, then I'm gonna cry of happiness and enjoy life. That smell of Banana boat sunscreen and the sun on my skin is just perfect.

Oh and boys, don't forget that sunscreen is not just for women! Anyone going out into the sun must apply sunscreen to keep his or her skin healthy. You should also have to play it smooth and add extra pogi points by shaving some of your beards this summer. So please shave it dude 'cause summer beards are really gross. So why don't you try out Schick for a hotter you this summer. Get Schick. Free your skin. You guys will surely look so much hotter than a summer day on the hottest place in the planet. It'll leave your skin feeling smooth and you'll never feel a better, fresher, and cleaner shave this summer!

Believe me, summer is definitely hotter than a sauna with Banana Boat Sunscreen Lotion, Schick, & Nuffnang! :)

Get Plugged Into Great Deals at Plugdeals.ph

I'm a HUGE fan of group buying sites which are proving to be a breath of fresh air for shoppers looking for some fun or the odd must-have, or to simply see what special deals they can pick up online. If it's possible, I am now an even bigger fan of deals with a setback in precisely the right way. No crazy deals or anything, it's just fast and convenient.

Well for those who doesn't know what group buying sites are, you've prolly been living under a rock. So just in case you decided to crawl from underneath the rock you've been living under, here's what you missed.

Group Buying Sites are websites that offer heavily discounted products & services from a retailer or service provider. It can go from 30% discount to as much as 99% discount! Seriously.

These group buying sites have been popping up like mushrooms over the past few years, and have now become a highly competitive way to shop for anything from spa treatments to holidays, flight tickets, gym memberships, hair treatments, restaurant meals, wine, kitchenware, gadgets and all the other cool products you can think of.

Lucky me 'cause I got invited for the media launch of a new group buying site called Plugdeals.ph. It is a product of BHMBPO, INc., a duly registered Multimedia Company, and a member of the PEMCOR Group of Companies.

Plugdeals.ph is an online coupon site where buyers can get great products and services at great discounts! They're simply plugging you to the best deals in town!

This is how Plugdeals works.

Register -> Buy -> Print -> Redeem.

Simple huh? You register online, and when you make a purchase or buy the item that you like using your credit card, you get an e-mail that includes a printable voucher to redeem the product or service. You print that and voila! Just redeem and you're good to go.

But wait, there's more.. (that's me with that cheeky grin on an online TV commercial)

What sets it apart from other group busing sites? It's their unique selling point. More than anything, what is more interesting is that the products can be bought in split payments!!! This innovation in the payment scheme sets them apart among the players in the coupon market.

With Plugdeals, the merchants have the option tolet the customers purchase the deal with just 30% of the price; and the remaining 70% will be paid directly to merchants upon redemption of the product or service bought. So it's relatively low asking commission from the merchants.

The great people behind Plugdeals :)
Mr. Edsel Africa, Plugdeals' Business Development Manager, explaining  Plugdeals' unique selling point

They have partial mode of payment which means you can pay partially now, and the voucher is yours. The payment scheme can be one of the following:

30/70%
50/50%
100%

Which means buyers need not shell out the whole amount just to be assured of getting a great deal. Buyer can use the amount for other purposes. Also, merchants need not wait for a long time for the payment remittance from the coupon site because they receive the payment ASAP.How cool is that? :)

With so many group buying sites out there, and more popping up, the choices of what you can buy are growing. And it has become quite a laborious task to keep track of them. Yet seasoned deal seekers know where to hunt down the best deals and what is the best group buying site to choose.

In the past, I’ve bought a haircut, a spa treatment for two, a Yellow Cab group meal, a staycation at Discovery Suites, gym play for kids and a lot more. I got really crazy and addicted with group buying sites until I had a really bad experience with one of those buying sites. I got a deal of a cute Angry Birds cake which turned out to be a disaster. From the time where I started reserving the cake until the time I picked it up, believe me, it was a BIG, big disappointment. I had a hard time contacting the cake company and got no reply in weeks. I followed up with the group buying site where I got the deal and after a few weeks, I was able to get it, only to find out that the cake was so effin different from the picture posted online. Angry birds just turned out to be the ugliest looking birds I've ever seen. LOL Soooo there... remember guys, pictures can be deceiving. Lesson learned so I am now more cautious as ever.

Actually, the best group buying site today isn’t necessarily the biggest group buying site out there. So you really have to choose wisely. Be juicy, I mean, choosy pala. :)

With Plugdeals.ph's new payment scheme and good deals, I bet they'll be one of the top players today. To avoid having bad feedbacks and negative experiences from customers, as well as to ensure customer satisfaction, Plugdeals.ph collaborates with merchants “to come up with a deal that makes sense”. They also make sure that the quality is exactly the same as what is posted online and as what is written in their contract. They also have a customer service hotline so they're just a quick phone call away. (632)-584-1099

So for my dear voucher and coupon loving friends, make sure you choose the deals wisely. Also, don't forget to check Pludeals.ph website HERE so you don't miss out on getting the best deals at the most amazing prices. There you will find all of their latest deals and offers.

So what are you waiting for, get plugged in now! BE ONE OF THE FIRST 1000 REGISTRANTS AND GET AN ANAK BATHALA COMIC BOOK FOR FREE!!!
Maia loves this comic book! Galing talaga ng Pinoy!
And of course, we had so much fun having our pics taken at the photobooth. After all, life should be fun right?!

That day was a blur. LOL It was fun though. :)
Oh and by the way, care to share your thoughts about group buying sites? The comments section at the bottom is open for you! Thanks heaps!

Have a fun Sunday everyone! :)

Friday Food Trip at Floring's Bbq & Grill

Hi, my name is Rockstarmomma and I'm addicted to anything grilled. Grilled pork, grilled chicken, grilled seafood, name it!

Also, I secretly want to be a professional food critic with extraordinarily exquisite palate so that I can taste delicious foods prepared by famous chefs. I consider myself a "foodie" though. Simply because I love food and I always like to rate the food I eat. I used to rate 1/5 on a restaurant with really good food but there's 2% eating, 98% complaining about waiting for the food. But that's not always the case.

Today, the inner foodie in me has finally succumbed. Too bad I gave up fried meat for Lent. But I'm not giving up the grilled! Don't judge me.

So how can I not resist the temptation of trying out a new grilled bbq joint in the Fort named Floring's?

The name rings like a bell and the logo outside has got it spot on. The name "Floring's" comes from the names of the owners, Chef Florabel Co-Yatco and Sir Ricky Laudico.

So yeah.. Move over Chic-boy and Mang Inasal... you got a new kid on the block. I know other popular bbq grill places that are certainly a big hit. But, when I saw the HUGE crowd coming in, I'm sure that in just 2 weeks into business, Floring's will top that out single-handedly, outkicking their competitors.

They just opened last February 24 but I was surprised to see that the place was packed! Floring's is in a strip near the HSBC building, really standing out, and the food sure does. Although I felt a little intimidated when I came in because it looks upscale and it was full of customers who were mostly wearing business attire.. well, let's just say they looked like they had money. Most of them were employees of the nearby buildings. But when I looked at the menu and the prices, it's really affordable. You can even get a meal for only P99. But that P99 meal tasted like a million bucks.

The restaurant was open and inviting and carried the vision of a true Pinoy Bbq experience. It is located at 31st st. cor 4th ave, Bonifacio Global City. Nearest landmarks are the building such as HSBC and Deutsche behind the new Mercury Drug store in front of St luke's hospital.

So lemme tell you more about my porky-licious and chicken-tastic experience at Floring's...

I tried the pork bbq which were amazing and highly addictive. The marinated slices of pork speared in bamboo skewers was so good and grilled to perfection. It's juicy, chewy and the meat is tender. The sauce over the perfectly grilled pork was heavenly!  Oh and their java rice?! Way too yummy!! I wouldn't mind adding extra P20 for that unlimited java rice. This pork bbq meal is Floring's "ace" item, and it darn well deserves to be.

As far as I am concerned, pork bbq won’t be complete without the vinegar or the soy-calamansi-with-chili sauce combo.

As for me, I like soaking my bbq in that vinegar dip. Though I also prefer lots of chili with calamansi and soy sauce. Both were good.

In addition, I tried the chicken Diablo which was hella good, it's so good it will blow you away. The chicken tasted great. It is cooked fresh to order, served hot and reasonably priced. It was accompanied by a yummy gravy sauce. The chicken is good enough to eat by itself but if you find yourself needing to add a sauce or two, by all means, just DO IT! :)

I also like the juiciness in every bite of their lechon manok. If I had to live with only one kind of meat for the rest of my life, chicken would be my choice without a moment of hesitation..That's how much I love chicken. Bok bok!

My personal favorite is the good old classic sizzling pork sisig with egg. I know, death by pork. But knowing it was a recipe of one of the top chefs in the country, it should be healthier and yummier than most of their competitors, to say the least. It almost tasted like my ultimate favorite sisig which is the famous liempo sisig of Burgos St. in Cabanatuan City which has no innards, just liempo. Three words. Try them both. :)

Not forgetting to have some vegetable for a balance meal. Healthy-heathyhan. :) I've tried their ensaladang talong and it's really yummy!

And for the dessert... Halohalo! Just in time for summer. I.love.it.

The Halohalo makes me feel like a happy little kid on a hot sunny day surrounded by cotton candy, rainbows and unicorns. It was so yummy and so cheesy 'cause it has lotsa cheese. Two thumbs up and if I had a third thumb, that one would be up to. Seriously.

Not only was the food amazing, the service at Floring's was impeccable! Chef Florabel was working in the kitchen at the time while Sir Ricky was helping us out and running us through the menu. He's constantly checking on the quality of the food and service, who seemed very interested in insuring the quality of their product. One of the waiters even went out of his way to stop on my table to refill my unlimited iced tea. Never did I once have to ask for my glass of iced tea to be filled, they were just magically filled.

That said, I love their iced tea.. the lemon flavor was not over powering, and it's not overly sweet, which I loved. Excellent service and laid back! It's some of the most kind hearted, genuine service I've ever had. I will definitely be back since I just found my new favorite!

With Chef Florabel, I feel like there is some serious love going on in this kitchen and it shows. This place is the kind of modern masterpiece that foodies like me is in desperate need of. Every dish was delicious and perfect.

Plates are meticulously presented, with our P99 meal being almost insanely good.

Check out the prices:

Pros:
- Food is served HOT and FRESH
- decent prices, generally in line with competitors and very affordable.Great grilled food for everyday meals.
- place is big, with a capacity of around 120 people, with a cozy second floor which can get filled up very quickly on weekdays
- the waiters are everywhere, very friendly anad attentive.
-Nice ambience. The picture of their food on the walls gives it a very cool feel and vibe. Not too fancy but certainly very modern and nice.

Cons:
- No delivery yet ( but I'm pretty sure they'll have it soon)
- Long lines. The place is always full house during lunch hour on weekdays.

After our food trip at Floring's, my taste buds have discovered a new type of taste. I really enjoyed the food with less gluttony feeling. Even before the owner Sir Ricky came and asked us how was our food, I told him the food was great, I'm stuffed and I did taste the difference in what I felt was the best chicken I've ever had.

Toooo much food intake today. Seriously a lot. Food coma.

What's best about Floring's? Amazing, great food at a very affordable price!

Floring's Bbq & Grill is clearly fixed in my family’s food trip sched. In fact, I can’t wait to go back. This was a five plus star experience.

Needless to say, Floring's is a serious foodie destination! Highly recommended and well worth a visit. :)

Check out Floring's Bbq & Grill. Located at Unit 2., 31st St. cor 4th Avenue, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

World Glaucoma Week: Escaping the Darkness of Glaucoma

"Is it a bird? Is it a plane?!"
"No, it's glaucoma".

A bright future is meaningless to a country that is slowly being swallowed by a silent darkness. This irreversible darkness is plaguing many Filipinos today as glaucoma becomes more and more prevalent in the country.

Glaucoma is a silent thief. It is an eye disease that damages the eye's optic nerve, slowly resulting in loss of vision. People say you’ll know when you have it, but that’s not true. Sometimes there are no symptoms. For every person diagnosed with Glaucoma, there is another person having Glaucoma unknowingly!

Glaucoma, a blindness that is a permanent paralysis, is taken much too lightly. It is the country’s leading cause of bilateral irreversible blindness, according to the Philippine National Survey of blindness.According to the World Health Organization, glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world. Glaucoma is not curable considering the damage to the optic nerve caused by glaucoma is already permanent.

Oh and did you know that next week is World Glaucoma Week? And they're giving free Glaucoma screening this March 12-16, 2012 for those are needed to be screened?

Well, I wouldn't know that either if I were not invited to attend the World Glaucoma Week Press Conference last Wednesday at Makati Shangrila Hotel.

The event was hosted by Christine Jacobs-Sandejas.

Next Monday kicks off World Glaucoma Week that will start from March 11-17, 2012. This year the theme is "Don't let glaucoma darken your life."

Presentors and panelists: Dr. Rainier Covar, Dr. Jose Ma. Martinez, Dr. Ma. Imelda Yap-Veloso, Dr. Mario V. Aquino, Dr. Norman Aquino, Dr. Hannah Pia De Guzman, Dr. Ma. Zita Meriales, and Dr. Manolito Reyes
Remember:

Having an eye examination is not just about reading the letter chart, it is about also checking the health of your eyes and knowing your eye or intraocular pressure. Another concern is the fact that older Filipinos do not consider glaucoma as a personal health issue, even though their age alone puts them at higher risk.

Moreover, many Filipinos do not visit their eye doctors often enough, and may not always get their eye pressure measured. This test employs a tonometer, which either rests against your eye’s (numbed) surface or sends a puff of air onto the cornea.I strongly believe that prevention is much better than a cure. Early detection prevents blindness. In the case of glaucoma, contracting the hereditary form of the disease may not be preventable but early diagnosis and treatment can certainly help prevent blindness.

The Philippine Glaucoma Society believes that Filipinos must be educated about the potential outcomes of poor adherence and motivated to proactively address their individual challenges. The public should remember that glaucoma rarely has warning signs, up to 40 percent of one’s vision can disappear without realizing it. This vision loss, while avoidable through early diagnosis, is irreversible once it presents itself. At the moment there is no cure for glaucoma. However, blindness caused by glaucoma can also be prevented, provided it is detected at an early stage as there are treatments such as medicine or surgery that can slow the progression of vision loss.T

The only way glaucoma can be detected is by regular comprehensive eye exams, which should begin after reaching the age of 40.To help address this critical situation, the Philippine Glaucoma Society in partnership with multi-specialty health care company, Allergan, has organized glaucoma awareness activities during World Glaucoma Week Glaucoma to be held on March 12 to 16, 2012. Numerous glaucoma forums for lay people as well as glaucoma screening activities will be held in selected hospitals and eye centers countrywide to examine the misperceptions and behaviors that often stand in the way of optimal diagnosis and care.

Glaucoma awareness is imperative.

Despite the increasing worldwide prevalence of glaucoma, both the Philippine Glaucoma Society and Allergan believe that increasing glaucoma awareness will lead to early diagnosis and treatment and eventually a better chance of preventing blindness from the disease. All these to achieve the Philippine Glaucoma Society’s vision: That no Filipino shall ever go blind from glaucoma.

Glaucoma can be prevented by having regular eye check-ups. Immediately consult your eye doctor/ophthalmologist if you have blurry vision or if you have eye pain. Please share this post to create more AWARENESS about Glaucoma.

So if you haven't had your eyes checked or if you have not been in for a while, or know someone that hasn't either, please consult an eye doctor or get the free screening. What's half an hour of your time worth to make sure your vision is safe?

And how will you ever see the beauty of all things if in the next few years, you're already blind?

If I put off the simple act of having my eyes checked, will I be able to see and take a picture of this mouth watering dessert ever again? I don't think so.
This dessert at the event is just too lovely to look at.  I'm so glad I have the gift of sight. Best gift ever.
Don't lose it.
So let's get our eyes checked, shall we? Help to promote WGW 2012! Be part of it.

There is hope. There can be a bright future. If we do it right, we can escape the darkness. Don't let Glaucoma darken your life.

KONY 2012: Stop Kony

Who in the world is Kony?? And why do we have to stop Kony?

I was curious and I was like O_O 'cause it's a trending topic on twitter all day!

With 26,684,765 views on YouTube, I wonder why millions of people want to know who and what Joseph Kony is and what he's doing? Hmmm... he must be really famous.

I went from not knowing who Kony is to knowing a lot about him in a matter of 30 minutes. For those who want to make this world a slightly better place, do find out who Joseph Kony is.

Everyone should take 30 minutes out of their day and watch this!

Please watch and share.

After watching this video, I finally know who the real Joseph Kony is and why everyone is making him famous. This video of a Ugandan warlord has gone viral and it breaks my heart to see those poor kids.

So who is Joseph Kony?

1. The man named Joseph Rao Kony is a Ugandan guerrilla group leader, head of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), a group engaged in a violent campaign to establish theocratic government based on the Ten Commandments throughout Uganda. The LRA is a militant group with a syncretic Christian extreme religious ideology. They are known for the extreme atrocities they commit against civilians, including murder, mutilations, rape, and in some accounts even cannibalism.

2. Joseph Kony abducts children and forces them to join his army. This has been going on for 20 years. He needs to be stopped.

3. Kony is some African guy who's forcing kids into becoming slaves and telling boys to kill their families & for girls to become his sex slaves.

4. Kony is the worst living criminal. He's actually on top of the list of the world's worst war criminals.

5. Kony is basically Adolf Hitler. He has an army of 30,000 mindless children who slaughters innocent people.

6. Last but not the least, Joseph Kony is a bad guy.

Now, do you know who Kony is? You should if you believe in justice. I reckon the Justice League superheroes or Spartacus and his men could stop Kony.

We've seen these kids, we've heard their cries, this war must END, we will not stop, we will not fear, we will fight! STOP KONY.

I support the international to arrest him, disarm the LRA and bring the child soldiers home. Let's support the cause Kony 2012.

KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice. The intention of the production is to draw attention to Kony in an effort to increase United States involvement in the issue.

And to everyone who is “sick and tired"of seeing Kony 2012 everywhere, on their timeline or on twitter, I bet those poor girls are "sick" and fed up of being raped, those little boys are “sick and tired” of being forced to murder and slaughter innocent people, even their own parents. I'm pretty sure that the government in Uganda is “hella sick” of not being able to stop him. Well, guess what, we’re sick of these negativity. Let go of the bad vibes people and spread the word.

As for me, I made a commitment to stop Kony and to keep spreading the words! I have watched their video, and I've heard their story. You should too.
