Singing in Style: Zia Quizon Shares Her Music

Last night, I attended Zia Quizon's First Bloggers Night and I must say, I'm quite impressed with her voice. It sounds way better live than it does on cd.  I can't believe I actually had a good night with some good quality music! She's indeed a stylized singer whom I love, and she definitely gets in the top 10 for vocal ability. Her voice is so unique and overall beyond amazing. True talent.

Zia Quizon is making a name for herself in the music industry with her unquestionable vocal ability, charming personality and her catchy tunes. Our 20-year-old sultry singer is on her way to the top with three hit singles “Simple Girl”, “Ako Na Lang” and “Dear Lonely” culled from her self-titled debut album released by PolyEast Records.

Show business runs in the family for ZIA QUIZON (Zia Denise Marie Padilla Quizon). Born to showbiz royalties on September 23, 1991, this 20-year-old new artist on the block is the youngest daughter of the Comedy King Dolphy and the Divine Diva Ms. Zsa Zsa Padilla. She studies in La Salle majoring in English Literature.

As for me, one of the best part of waking up is listening to good, relaxing music. I guess life without music would be very depressing. I believe the music industry wants fresh and unique music from new artists. Zia Quizon is definitely one of them. I love the feeling I get whenever I listen to her, it's like taking a new breath of fresh air from the music scene.

My favorite of all. No fakey, stylized runs, just all truth-get-real-and-just-chill kind of song. I also love her own rendition of the song "Mambobola". Stunning, STUNNING rendition!

Zia's album kicked off with “Ako Na Lang”, composed and produced by Mr. Jungee Marcelo. Following the success of the first single “Ako Na Lang” which marked eight weeks on top ten radio charts and MYX charts in 2011, she’s now ready to repeat the process.

Awesome Taglish lyrics+incredible song+ catchy tunes+ pretty face= A perfect brew to a fresh exciting music :)

Different sound. So calming and so different from the strong or "birit" voice everyone is used to. To me, I dig her so I'm into her music. I like the whole package. And the lyrics. Just something fresh. Just pure amazing. Sometimes it's ok to dare to be different because we were born an "original" and we shouldn't live in this world or die as a "copy" (worse, if it's a pirated copy). It makes me want to be different so I’ve decided that from now on, I want to get in shape. A different shape. Just like the shape of a potato. LOL I guess sometimes when you try so hard to be different, you end up like everyone else. Yun lang. :/

Oh well, as for Zia, being original comes effortlessly. She's original, unique and different. Although her voice is so unique. It's got something so different and raw about it. That's what makes her so special. What makes her different, makes her beautiful.

While she was singing on stage last night, her "stagemom" Zsazsa Padilla a.k.a the Divine Diva, was taking a video of her while wiping her tears away. That was a very touching, honest and moving moment. *tears galore* Ms. Zsazsa padilla said the song "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" made her cry... (brought tears to my eyes too).

Also, giving credits to her very supportive dad, Dolphy, a contemporary classic piece “Smile,” becomes a more-than-promising start for the young artist reviving Michael Jackson’s version. Sharing her
musical influences, Zia said “Aside from my mom, I would say that my dad’s taste in music really shaped mine. He influenced me to appreciate the classics—from standards to classical to world Music and even oldies.”

“I’m proud to say that all the songs in the album were arranged to my style of singing. My producers made sure I was comfortable with singing the songs in the album,” Zia added.

This memorable six-track includes three original composition and three revivals. Borrowing a song which led her mom, ZsaZsa Padilla, to the height of her career in the 80s, “Mambobola” is one of the album’s highlights. Zia said, “We were throwing some ideas around and I think I actually suggested the song myself. I felt that it would be very nice to have one of my mom’s songs on the album as a kind of tribute to her for all of the things she has done for me.

Her voice leaves me speechless, mesmerized, and hypnotized. It has an acquired taste and if her voice isn't anointed, I don't know what is. I like it a lot, and it's something I'd listen to often.

  7. I love how her voice veers away from her mom's birit, Karylle does that, she sounds like her mom. But Zia, she has her own signature style. I also like how she can look innocent yet flirtatious too in these photos.:)

    1. Yeah, I agree. She has a different style in singing.. it's actually nice noh? Parang foreigner ang style. Very Adele and Norah Jones lang ang peg. But she kinda looks like her mom too. May angle din na Dolphy and sometimes Karylle! And talented talaga sila lahat. Sana ganun din katalented sa singing ang family namin. I wish. lol
