Her smile :)

Today, I'm feeling blue.. kinda emo if you ask me :( And when I’m feeling blue, I just look into my wallet and look for the one thing that will make me smile. The photo of my daughter. That old picture of her when she was just 3 months old, wherein she won first place in a photo contest and bagged PhP10,000++ cash. Proud mama here. (See pics above. :) ) Well, the white part of the photo is a dingy off-white now, and the corner on the left is peeling off but every bit of it is perfect. Now I try to picture her, her toothy smile and when she smiles, it brightens my day. I might roll my eyes at her or tell her, “Behave! It's not funny!” But underneath it all, I abso-freakin-lutely adore her smile and I'm quite amazed of how she puts a smile on my face even on the most bleakest of days. I also love the sound of her laughter when I tickle her. When she laughs, she makes the whole world smile. She is the only one who has the power to make me happy and bring me up when I’m really down. Whenever my day needs to be brightened, she’s the one I turn to. I love seeing her dance and sing and how when it’s time for bed she says "Love you mommy. Good night," and we snuggle up in the chill of the evening while I scratch her back till we both fall asleep. I'd love to come home to her running toward me to give me a big hug and a sweet kiss. It would be like a nice, deep penetrating foot massage after a long, hard day's work. :)

And here's the photo we took in Bohol last year where we won Php 25,000 worth shopping spree from Zara in Heaven Ice Cream‘s Heaven on Earth photo contest. Isn't it amazing?
"This is my heaven on earth! I enjoy having HEAVEN ice cream with my angel, Maia, who must have taken a day off in heaven to enjoy a cup of divine ice cream pleasure with me on a hot, sunny day at the beach. My own piece of heaven that is too good to even dream about.
Btw, here's the photo I took where I won an all-expense paid trip to Boracay from Smart's extraodinary summer photo contest. We went to Boracay last Holy week and last June with my daughter, Maia. :)

Just now. I miss her smile and it sucks not to see her smile today. I miss her. =(

If there's one thing that brightens my day, it would be my daughter's smile, my Maia Chanelle's smile. There’s not a day that goes by that she can’t make me smile. Whenever I’m mad, stressed, upset or just feeling down, she’s always the first one who can clear my mind and make all my problems go away. I always wonder how something so tiny, so simple can make me the happiest person in the world. It’s amazing how she knows just what to do when I’m in a bad mood. Even if she’s done something wrong and I’ve told her “No, stop it,” she does her little ba-donky-donk dance and flashes that wicked smile that makes me laugh when I should be mad. And now that I'm missing her so bad because I get used to seeing her everyday, I just look at her picture. Then I get in the mindset that I can do it, I can do the impossible. I'd do everything for her. She is the reason I’m working my arse off, waking up every 3ish in the morning to go to work cause I know this is for my daughter and I'd do whatever it takes for my daughter to have a better life.
Despite the fact that I'm not a morning person and I don't have any call center experience, I do have a good head on my shoulders.
Since I can't find a job online, I decided to apply for a call center job because of obvious reasons. And I'm so glad I managed to pass my first try on applying in a call center even if I don't even know how a mock call works. If it wasn’t for my daughter, I can honestly say I would not be the person I am today. I know I would not pass it if it's not for her. Simply put, I know I passed because I have an inspiration. I even remember the interviewer asked me who or what would be my inspiration to go to work everyday and I answered without batting an eyelash.. it's my daughter! Hallleerrr! That was the easiest question ever! LOL

She is my everything, my blessing from God. She is my pride and joy and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not thankful for this blessing. Ever since she was brought into my life, I’ve never been happier. I can honestly see the future in my daughter’s eyes, what I am and who I’ll be.

That said, I can't wait for the weekend to see her again... her sweet, toothy smile. :)

I love you bebe..

Here comes the season 4 of Jollitown :)

Jollitown season 4 welcomes kids and kids at heart with a day of time traveling adventures!

If Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, well, Jollitown is surely the jolliest place in the world! :) It is a town filled with games, adventures, and surprises! And I'm so glad I am one of the few chosen bloggers who were given a chance to take a peek of the 4th season of Jollitown.
Held at White Space, Pasong Tamo last July 9, this media launch was attended by the Jollibee family, the media partners, and adorable kids and their parents. My daughter, Maia, had so much fun and she also got the chance to meet the cute beloved characters of her favorite TV show starred by none other than Jollibee and the gang!

Maia was wondering.. "Oh noes! Looks like Mr. Q is up to something!" LOL

This time, the adventure and learning is more fun and exciting as Mr. Q started the program and showed us the wonderful neighborhood of Jollitown. Returning with whole new characters and time traveling adventures, Jollibee and friends offer fans a preview of the new exciting season with a day of colorful festivities, games, and loads of awesome surprises.

“With Jollitown, it has always been our goal to entertain and impart values to children. To further strengthen this endeavor, we made the new season even more dynamic and fun to effectively reach out to the show’s young audience,” says Twinkle Aniceto, Jollibee brand manager.

The event’s highlights takes off from the plot of the new season. The magical clock tower DingDangDong is broken and it’s up to Jollibee and friends to put him back together. Along theway, they meet new characters such as the futuristic Mr. Tom Morrow. With his robots accidentally out of control, kids and parents spent the day helping rebuild Jollitown as they play a ton of fun-filled activities. Participants had a fantastic time with the unique games where they got a first-hand experience of what it’s like to be in Jollitown.
Another highlight was the interactive and awe-inspiring “art” performance by the My Masterpiece Movement, as they drew and colored Jollitown to life and took the guests to a mesmerizing time-travel journey.

“More than developing the kids’ skills, the activities are really about helping one another. And that’s also what we want to show in this new season of Jollitown. We want to continue helping parents impart good values to their children,” shares Coleen Niguidula-Ducusin, Jollibee marketing manager.

Capping off the day of fun and excitement, the enthusiastic kids were treated to an entertaining performance from the talented crew of Jollibee, Popo, Hetty, Twirlie and Yum.

Kids will truly be up for an adventure-filled season as they catch their beloved characters onscreen travel across time to help a friend. With new characters, amazing musical numbers, enchanted travels, and cool learnings, Jollitown season 4 will definitely be a kiddie must-see.

Maia had so much fun! By the way, thanks heaps to the Jollibee family and thanks mucho to haute mama, Ms. Ruth of mommywrites, for the invites! We had so much fun! :)

Starting July 17, Jollitown fans can catch their favorite jolly characters at a new home and timeslot. Join the delightful gang of Jollibee and friends in Jollitown season 4 as it airs on ABS-CBN every Sunday at 9:00 am.

And don't forget to click your way here to Jollitown where your kids can explore, play games and make their own avatars too. My daughter loves it to bits! Now, we've got one more reason to order our fave Jollibee breakfast meals delivered to our home every Sunday morning! Because when the clock strikes 9, it's time for Jollitown! :)

Great West Texan Food at Carol's Texan 5

With all this cold and wet weather we're having, it's time for a big hearty meal so I ventured to the first-ever Blogger's Buffet at Carol's Texan 5 by in cooperation with last Thursday with the other chosen bloggers who braved the heavy rains and strong winds to sample their food that even a very grumpy and rowdy cowgirl or cowboy would salivate and go straight up to cowboy heaven. And I, of course, never pass up a chance to sample some highly-praised ribs and chicken from this side of town.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Carol's Texan 5, Miss Carol Chan, and she's a genuinely sweet person who sure loves American food, hence the name Carol's Texan 5. 5 being the 5 main entrees namely; the Ultimate Texan Ribs, Dynamite Wings, Cowboy Roast Beef, Tomato Basil Pasta w/ Shrimp, and Five Star Fish and Fries.
Located just off J. Abad Santos St., the place is easy to find. You might not think to stop, but this place is well worth it! I'd definitely be a regular if I live closer. So how about a branch in the south soon? Makati perhaps? nudge nudge :) The atmosphere is an all-American/ Texan theme which is so much fun to look at. Clean and comfy seats and there is ample air condition with free wifi to boot! But what really caught my attention was the "Wanted" photowall complete with paraphernalias and costumes like cowboy hats, guns, leather vest, duster jacket, and a sheriff's badge. We had so much fun having our pictures taken at the "Wanted" Photowall and the Photoballoon booth. The Photoballoons look so cute and unique, it surely makes a nice birthday party treat for the kids and kids at heart... like us! :)

Carol's Texan 5 caters to many different customers with a variety of specials like the chicken and ribs, and the menu that is fairly simple with straightforward offerings served hot as a sinister block of mostly grilled and fried goodness. There is a lot of variety and you can get a big cowboy-sized plate (definitely for sharing) with just enough of each item to get a taste and move on to the next one. The food all seems homemade and great quality and it does nothing more than offer simple, tasty meals that are fresh and well prepared. You can also order party trays of your fave Carol's Texan 5 dishes for special occasions and order kiddie meal sets for kiddie birthday parties or meal sets for your office gatherings. But wait, there's more.. :) You can also hold events and functions here and hey, hey, they also have delivery. Sadly, they deliver in San Juan, Mandaluyong, Pioneer and Ortigas area only. Bummer. :(

Now this. THIS is interesting.

Ultimate Texan Ribs
To me, the ribs are top notch even without the sauce, the quality of the meat is excellent and the ribs are smothered with tasty special bbq sauce and are expertly grilled to let the flavor of the meat take center stage. The ribs are very meaty, actually more meat than bone. About 2 huge ribs in total and I'm pretty much full to the brim with the help of my large plate of dynamite wings, a bit of pasta and side veggies.
Dynamite Wings
The chicken wings had a very nice spice to it, unlike many places where it seems like they make the food spicy just for the sake of being spicy. It also has some garlic cream sauce to dip in which I really love. And for those who are totally sick of KFC chicken & their ever-shrinking chicken parts, I highly recommend this dynamite wings!
Tomato Basil Pasta
The Tomato Basil Pasta is a flavourful and healthy dish. I always veer towards something like this one when I like eating healthy. I like the rich aromatic flavor of basil and the rich taste of tomatoes that is bursting with flavour, satisfying, and with its fresh ingredients, undeniably healthy! One can taste the basil and tomato quite strongly so for those who doesn’t like basil and tomatoes in their pasta, this is not for you.

Ice Cream ( Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry )

And what is a rib or dynamite wing without a nice cold beer? Or a yummy ice cream with cherry on top for dessert? The great selection of yummy desserts and a decent list of beverages and beer is a perfect way to cap off your meal. You can, of course, also skip the rib experience and choose from a number of other classic, reasonably-priced good old fashioned American food from their menu. It’s truly a hidden gem that I want to share with more people. Overall, I give Carol's Texan 5 a 8.9 out of 10. Everything was tasty and well-prepared. Juicy without being greasy. Love it! Check na check. :)

As if good food wasn’t enough, we got freebies and giveaways from the sponsors: Iced tea bottles from Coke, free Antonov Vodka drinks from San Miguel, Fern C Coffee, Ice cream from Magnolia, a cute leather journal from Ms. Carol Chan of Carol's Texan 5, giveaways from, DesignYourDreams Vision Boards from and a few lucky single peeps got tickets to the event on June 29 Thanks heaps! One other note that I must mention goes to the organizer of the event, Maharlika "Tristan" Mirasol III. Thanks for the invites and kudos to you b'cause the first-ever Blogger's Buffet was everything it promised to be.. so much fun and a chance to meet fellow bloggers, new friends and stuff ourselves with incredibly tasty and yummy food. LOL Awesome!

So there... given the non-stop rain and bad weather, I really thought I wouldn't enjoy the event and the food at Carol's Texan 5 as much as I did, just like what I've been through with tropical storm Falcon that literally murdered my poor umbrella. RIP payong. :( But I left fully satisfied and I'm pretty sure you will too. So, don't hesitate to saddle up your horse, dig in the ribs and get yer grub on as it is by far one of the best places to get real, Texan-style chicken and ribs this side of Manila!
