Great West Texan Food at Carol's Texan 5

With all this cold and wet weather we're having, it's time for a big hearty meal so I ventured to the first-ever Blogger's Buffet at Carol's Texan 5 by TenMinutesTops.com in cooperation with ClubTravelNOW.org last Thursday with the other chosen bloggers who braved the heavy rains and strong winds to sample their food that even a very grumpy and rowdy cowgirl or cowboy would salivate and go straight up to cowboy heaven. And I, of course, never pass up a chance to sample some highly-praised ribs and chicken from this side of town.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Carol's Texan 5, Miss Carol Chan, and she's a genuinely sweet person who sure loves American food, hence the name Carol's Texan 5. 5 being the 5 main entrees namely; the Ultimate Texan Ribs, Dynamite Wings, Cowboy Roast Beef, Tomato Basil Pasta w/ Shrimp, and Five Star Fish and Fries.
Located just off J. Abad Santos St., the place is easy to find. You might not think to stop, but this place is well worth it! I'd definitely be a regular if I live closer. So how about a branch in the south soon? Makati perhaps? nudge nudge :) The atmosphere is an all-American/ Texan theme which is so much fun to look at. Clean and comfy seats and there is ample air condition with free wifi to boot! But what really caught my attention was the "Wanted" photowall complete with paraphernalias and costumes like cowboy hats, guns, leather vest, duster jacket, and a sheriff's badge. We had so much fun having our pictures taken at the "Wanted" Photowall and the Photoballoon booth. The Photoballoons look so cute and unique, it surely makes a nice birthday party treat for the kids and kids at heart... like us! :)

Carol's Texan 5 caters to many different customers with a variety of specials like the chicken and ribs, and the menu that is fairly simple with straightforward offerings served hot as a sinister block of mostly grilled and fried goodness. There is a lot of variety and you can get a big cowboy-sized plate (definitely for sharing) with just enough of each item to get a taste and move on to the next one. The food all seems homemade and great quality and it does nothing more than offer simple, tasty meals that are fresh and well prepared. You can also order party trays of your fave Carol's Texan 5 dishes for special occasions and order kiddie meal sets for kiddie birthday parties or meal sets for your office gatherings. But wait, there's more.. :) You can also hold events and functions here and hey, hey, they also have delivery. Sadly, they deliver in San Juan, Mandaluyong, Pioneer and Ortigas area only. Bummer. :(

Now this. THIS is interesting.

Ultimate Texan Ribs
To me, the ribs are top notch even without the sauce, the quality of the meat is excellent and the ribs are smothered with tasty special bbq sauce and are expertly grilled to let the flavor of the meat take center stage. The ribs are very meaty, actually more meat than bone. About 2 huge ribs in total and I'm pretty much full to the brim with the help of my large plate of dynamite wings, a bit of pasta and side veggies.
Dynamite Wings
The chicken wings had a very nice spice to it, unlike many places where it seems like they make the food spicy just for the sake of being spicy. It also has some garlic cream sauce to dip in which I really love. And for those who are totally sick of KFC chicken & their ever-shrinking chicken parts, I highly recommend this dynamite wings!
Tomato Basil Pasta
The Tomato Basil Pasta is a flavourful and healthy dish. I always veer towards something like this one when I like eating healthy. I like the rich aromatic flavor of basil and the rich taste of tomatoes that is bursting with flavour, satisfying, and with its fresh ingredients, undeniably healthy! One can taste the basil and tomato quite strongly so for those who doesn’t like basil and tomatoes in their pasta, this is not for you.

Ice Cream ( Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry )

And what is a rib or dynamite wing without a nice cold beer? Or a yummy ice cream with cherry on top for dessert? The great selection of yummy desserts and a decent list of beverages and beer is a perfect way to cap off your meal. You can, of course, also skip the rib experience and choose from a number of other classic, reasonably-priced good old fashioned American food from their menu. It’s truly a hidden gem that I want to share with more people. Overall, I give Carol's Texan 5 a 8.9 out of 10. Everything was tasty and well-prepared. Juicy without being greasy. Love it! Check na check. :)

As if good food wasn’t enough, we got freebies and giveaways from the sponsors: Iced tea bottles from Coke, free Antonov Vodka drinks from San Miguel, Fern C Coffee, Ice cream from Magnolia, a cute leather journal from Ms. Carol Chan of Carol's Texan 5, giveaways from ClubTravelNOW.org, DesignYourDreams Vision Boards from IAMPilipinas.com and a few lucky single peeps got tickets to the event on June 29 CliqManila.com. Thanks heaps! One other note that I must mention goes to the organizer of the event, Maharlika "Tristan" Mirasol III. Thanks for the invites and kudos to you b'cause the first-ever Blogger's Buffet was everything it promised to be.. so much fun and a chance to meet fellow bloggers, new friends and stuff ourselves with incredibly tasty and yummy food. LOL Awesome!

So there... given the non-stop rain and bad weather, I really thought I wouldn't enjoy the event and the food at Carol's Texan 5 as much as I did, just like what I've been through with tropical storm Falcon that literally murdered my poor umbrella. RIP payong. :( But I left fully satisfied and I'm pretty sure you will too. So, don't hesitate to saddle up your horse, dig in the ribs and get yer grub on as it is by far one of the best places to get real, Texan-style chicken and ribs this side of Manila!
