Product Review: Bugout Refillable Mosquito Repellent Bracelets

Mosquito season is here again and with the constant buzz about Dengue and the Zika virus, I can't help but get worried about whether my child may get infected. I don’t want to let them be a mosquito snack (Seriously!) and as a mom, keeping my kiddos safe is at the heart of everything I do. That is why I would do everything to protect them from mosquito-borne illnesses.

Thankfully, I discovered Bugout replaceable mosquito repellent bracelets, the all natural effective way to repel pesky mosquitoes and keep bugs away! It is available in 2 designs; Spring and Smiley. Both designs have refillable cartridges.

 With that in mind, I pulled together a list of reasons why I love this product;
  • Easy to put on

It's very easy to wear for adults and children, unlike the mosquito patches that are easy to fall off. You can simply wear it on the wrist or ankle, or it can also be attached to a bag or stroller. I like the Smiley design because it fits so comfortably in my kids' wrist/ankle. My hubby loves the Spring design because it's fully adjustable, stretchable and very comfortable.
  • Module not in contact with skin
Unlike the other insect repellents like lotion and spray, it is safe to use as the refill does not come in contact with the skin.

  • Convenient and easy to use
These bracelets don’t leave any kind of sticky feel like a messy oil or spray usually does. How to use: Simply insert the refill through the mouth of smiley bracelet.

  • Deet-free and chemical-free, green and safe for kids.
It is made from the selection of the finest essential oils like citronella, lavender and clove and does not contain Deet and other chemical components. Trust me when I say I would never use products on my kid that aren’t proven safe and effective. It is recommended for children 2 years and above. Make sure the kids are well supervised to avoid eating the refill.

  • Very effective with nano-technology release
It works indoors and outdoors for maximum protection through the application of nano-technology release (patented). Plant essential oil is wrapped inside the nano-wall. Nanowall will slowly decompose after meeting with air, which can release molecule of essential oil slowly and has a slower speed of decomposition than usual. The service period of defending mosquitoes is ten times than others in the market and there are no side effects.

Effective radius is 1.5 meters. The mosquito repellent bracelet keeps mosquito away through the aroma of essential oils. The effective distance of the aroma released by the module can reach up to 1.5m and is influenced by the wind. It is best worn on both wrist and ankle for maximum protection. Each bracelet provides 160 hours of protection or just over a week. Make sure to store it in an airtight container so the repellent effect stays effective.

  • I like the fresh scent or pleasant smell from Citronella, eucalyptus and other all natural oils which last up to 7 days. It's best and recommended to replace the module every 7 days.
  • Water-proof. It is suitable for camping, hiking, running and so on.
  • Stylish, lightweight and has a super cute packaging.

These colorful bracelets have been carefully designed so anyone can use them—both adult and kids. The SPRING Insect Repellent Bracelet comes in 3 colors— Midnight Black, Rose Pink, and Sky Blue; while the SMILEY Insect Repellent is available in Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow. It can be used as a form of accessory for women and also a fun children's accessory.  Each package comes with 4 modules.
  • Great for travelling and everyday use to avoid mosquito-borne diseases
  • Very affordable
The Spring Bracelet costs P375 while the Smiley Bracelet costs P 395. It comes with four (4) refills, which are made from the selection of the finest essential oils (citronella, lavender, clove). Bugout Refills are also available; P245 for smiley (4 pcs). 465 for spring (9 pcs). Each refill is good for 7 days.

BugOut is available at the following: Toys R’ Us leading branches (Powerplant, Greenbelt 5, Glorietta, Eastwood, Trinoma, Shangrila, Robinsons Magnolia, Robinsons Ermita, Galleria, Alabang Town Center) or you can purchase via Cudsly, MilkandHoney and www.ava.ph.

  1. Thanks for the info and by the way these repellents are so cute! I love how they make use of natural ingredients such as essential oils - and no DEET. My family and I love the outdoors and since my kids are already in middle school, they are so active and share my passion in camping and outdoor sports. Recently, my spouse and I decided to save some money and make DIY mosquito repellents and wow, they work. We love how easy it is to mix and provide hours of protection, just like store-brought ones. We've learned how to do it when we stumbled on this site. At least, parents will have the option to buy or make their own. See http://backpackingmastery.com/gear/homemade-mosquito-repellent.html
