McDonald's Burger Shop Now Open in KidZania Manila

My daughter and I decided to embark on another exciting journey in KidZania Manila over the weekend, and we were extremely thrilled because we're invited to witness the opening of McDonald's Burger Shop in KidZania Manila.

McDonald’s  President  and  CEO Kenneth  Yang,  Alonzo  Muhlach,  Play Innovations  Industry Partner  Director Cecille  Mariño,  and  Play  Innovations President and CEO Maricel Pangilinan-Arenas  formally opened  McDonald’s Burger  Shop  with  a  ribbon-cutting ceremony last Saturday.

McDonald’s Brand Ambassador Alonzo Muhlach, as well as Maia and other kids, were included in the first batch of kids to experience how to learn and play the McDonald's  way!

McDonald’s Burger Shop in KidZania is open  for  kids  4  to  14  years  old who  want  to  learn  how  to  make McDonald’s iconic Cheeseburger. The facade looks like a regular McDonald's restaurant but a closer look reveals a kid-sized kitchen with Kiddie crew members having fun while making their own McDonald’s cheeseburgers!

When the kids walked in the burger shop, the Zupervisors greeted everyone with "Kai!" which means Hi and is usually delivered with a gesture commonly used inside Kidzania, wherein the first two fingers of the right hand are splayed over the chest.

Then, the kids were instructed to wear hair nets, aprons and plastic gloves that were made available to ensure food safety and hygiene standards, plus a brief introduction from the Zupervisors were given.

Of course, as a standard operating procedure, the kids must wash their hands properly before they start the activity.

The Zupervisors gave each child a paper wrapper that was placed on the table as their working surface. Then, they came around the table with perfectly toasted buns.

They were instructed on how to properly squirt the ketchup and mustard, and then the Zupervisor brought around the beef patty which each child placed on their burgers. The kids put together all of its tasty ingredients; 100% pure beef patty, a slice of American cheese, tangy pickles, minced onions, ketchup, mustard, and toasted buns.

Finally, the Zupervisors gave instructions on how to properly fold the wrapper around the cheeseburger and voila! The cheeseburgers were ready for the kids to enjoy.

Inside the burger shop, the kids will also learn the same procedure that real crew members use in over 460 McDonald's stores nationwide. After completing the activity, they will need to pay 15 KidZos, the official currency of Kidzania, (read more about it here) which they can enjoy in other establishments. This includes the Cheeseburger that they will prepare and enjoy after the activity!

"Making a McDonald’s cheeseburger is an exciting activity in itself, but the real treat for kids and the parents is the experience and values learned while doing the activity. Together with Kidzania, our hope is for kids to learn and appreciate the importance of hard work and responsibility, at the same time building their social skills and confidence," said McDonald's Philippines President CEO Kenneth S. Yang.

"KidZania Manila is a place where kids can do big things and let their creativity run free," said Maricel Pangilinan-Arenas, State Governor for KidZania Manila. "Here, they get to experience how a community operates, discover different careers, and learn while having fun by working closely with real-world brands that they know and love, like McDonald's."

Here's another good news, guys! McDonald's Park Triangle Branch finally opened last Saturday, so kids and parents can continue their bonding time over great-tasting food at McDo. It is located at the Ground Floor beside KidZania Manila, in front of J.CO Doughnuts.

McDonald’s Brand Ambassador Alonzo Muhlach and Chief Happiness Officer Ronald McDonald strike a pose at the Store Opening of McDonald’s Park Triangle
McDonald’s Burger Shop at Kidzania is one of the ways that the company champions children’s wellbeing. Every summer, McDonald’s holds its Kiddie Crew Workshop where kids get to experience different fun activities from art and talent workshops to on-floor activities and values formation sessions. While its annual McHappy Day provides a venue for the entire family to spend time together outdoors with a fun run.

McDonald’s also provides an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of kids in need through the Ronald McDonald House Charities or RMHC. For every purchase of a McDonald’s Happy Meal, 50 centavos is donated to RMHC in support of its flagship programs, Ronald McDonald Read To Learn and Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit.
