Third Time's A Charm: 8th Robinsons' Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run

For the third time overall – and second year in a row – I joined the team spirit to take part in the 8th Robinsons' Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run. Thousands of keen runners and running enthusiasts, including CEOs and celebrities, ran in pairs for the 8th Robinsons Supermarket Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run held last July 5 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The overwhelming turnout is a testament to the consistently increasing number of health-conscious individuals actively seeking healthier lifestyles.

This race is one of those rare occasions that you can run with your best bud or loved one. My hubby had to work though, so I got to run it alongside Ellen, my gym buddy turned running buddy, instead of all by my lonesome.

Robinsons Supermarket’s commitment to health & wellness made the "fun" in the annual Fit & Fun Buddy Run alive. It aims to empower those who are leading healthy and active lives, and encourage the rest to start healthier days by going on a wellness journey with Robinsons Supermarket.

The Fit and Fun Buddy Run has 5k and 10k courses, that are both casual-runner friendly distances. This year, I had to shorten the distance from last year's 10k to 5k since I had a miscarriage last April and gained a few pounds. The third time was a charm though and the race was great. I was able to run fairly well for 5k before my entire right foot eventually hurt. Our motivation? Bags of groceries were waiting for us at the finish line, plus the desire to improve our overall health and wellness. Yay!

From running this race in the past, I can say that this is one of the most organized and planned races in the Philippines. Maybe I should bury you in race photos to prove that I really, truly, actually had a great time running this race and the 2 previous races. Ready?

Thousand of runners took on the 5km and 10km Fit & Fun Buddy Run, including triathlete Nikko Huelgas 28th SEA Games gold medalist, Philippines Volcanoes captain Jake Letts, and celebrities James Reid and Jessy Mendiola.

At the end of the run, top pair finishers received prizes. 5K winners won a trip for 2 to Coron, Palawan while 10k winners bagged a trip for 2 to Yangon, Myanmar. 2nd to 5th place finishers received Robinsons Gift Certificates as consolation prizes and all finisher pairs were awarded with lots of grocery prizes.

Special awards from event sponsors were also given away. Outstanding pairs were awarded the following: Close-up Couple award, Rexona Do More Buddies, Breeze Sige Mom-child Tandem, Nestle Best Shape-up Buddies, Milo Energy & Milo R2 Twin Buddies, and the Johnson & Johnson Active Fresh Award.

Overall, it was a great and successful fun run. The challenging 5k and 10k courses, copious water and sports drinks, and having the most freebies in a race which you get in loot bags and the generous sampling of food given at the race grounds during the post-race events, makes it one of the best fun runs ever. Also, the medical aid stations were well stocked.

All participants took home a Robinsons Supermarket I Love Wellness bag filled with goodies from sponsors.  Plus we had a fun and very entertaining zumba session after the run!
