Top Reasons Why You Should #EatBreakfast Every Day

Have you ever had those lazy mornings? You wake up late, groggy and your head was aching. You just stare at the ceiling while trying to remember your name, what day it is, wondering why you should get up on this horrid day?

That was my morning today. 

I looked back at the bed as if it was seductively teasing me to slip back in between her soft, comfy sheets. I wanted to crawl back, and just hibernate for a week but sadly, my "hangry" stomach didn’t agree. It grumbled, and demanded I eat breakfast.

To be honest, I'm not a breakfast person, and I used to skip breakfast A LOT. But I challenged myself to eat breakfast every morning for a week and I ultimately learned a valuable lesson: Breakfast is an important part of the day. Eating it for a week changed my snacking habits for the better and it helped me stay fuller throughout the rest of the day. 

That's why I'm encouraging everyone, especially busy moms, to not miss out on preparing healthy, filling morning food everyday. Even if you're in a hurry, it's best not to skip breakfast. Skipping breakfast leaves you feeling tired and very hungry later. This often leads to overeating throughout the rest of the day, which can be unhealthy.

Imagine this. After a long night of sleeping, your fuel tank is on empty. Like a car won't run without gas, your body won't function right without its fuel: food!

I hate to admit that it might not be my favorite meal, but I have a newfound appreciation for it. 

I think that eating breakfast in bed every morning would be quite a wonderful way to start the day. 

Here are some of the reasons why you should eat breakfast:
  • Jumpstarts your metabolism and, thus, helps you burn more calories throughout the day.
  • Consuming less fat through the day
  • Having a lower BMI, More likely to be at a healthier body weight
  • Having higher daily calcium and fiber intake
  • Less likely to consume unhealthy snacks
  • Controls blood sugar levels
  • Having better performance (increased energy, improved concentration, focus, memory and attention) 

So even if I'm not feeling well this morning, I cooked my favorite breakfast.  In this case, I had a big breakfast with all my faves from Virginia Food. And guess what? It instantly cheered me up and put a smile on my face. :) The horrible day didn’t feel so bad anymore, especially with a stomach full of yummy breakfast treats.
