Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park: What to Expect, New Attractions and My Favorites

Looking for the perfect family getaway this Holy Week and aren’t quite sure what to do or where to go? I’ve got you covered. I’ve stayed at many wonderful hotels but if you want an easy escape and get out of the city without spending so much time travelling, then Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park is your best bet. Located in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite, it's just a quick 20-minute drive from Makati via NAIA Expressway and Cavitex.

In this post, I’ll break down what you should expect from Island Cove this 2018, plus I’ll include their new attractions, 20th year treats and my top favorites.

For me, the ideal hotel is a balance between having a hotel experience while still maintaining some comforts of home. Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park is an excellent choice because there is something to do for every member of the family – even the four-legged ones are welcome. They have great customer service, ample free parking and are very pet friendly. Say hello to Jupiter! 😊

Island Cove is huge and has lots of attractions, and at times it can get overwhelming. To take it all in, you have to start somewhere. To tell the truth, it doesn’t matter where you start as long as you arrive.

Meet Bambi. You can try horseback riding, Php50 for 15 minutes. 

The 36-hectare Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park houses a paintball arena, various playgrounds for children, and a giant chess set. Kalesa and horses are also available for rent. They have a basketball court, a tennis court, and a 1.4-kilometer jogging path.  It’s walking distance to everything, yet it still feels quiet and secluded. When in doubt, or for those who get tired of walking around, ride the tram. You're welcome.

If you prefer to stay indoors, you can use the billiard and table tennis tables or go to the game room for the Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox consoles. Frustrated singers can head to the KTV outlet. For relaxation and stress relief, the Island Spa is recommended.Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park has numerous function pavilions and is capable of catering and organizing events for as many as 14,000 persons.

For its 20th anniversary, Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park added a few attractions, updated some of the old favorites, and lined up promos that will make going on a getaway easier on the pocket.

1.   The Island Aviary

A comfortable 20-minute walk through the 3,500-square meter animal zone will expose you to different birds such as the Brahminy Kite, ostrich, and peacock. Also watch out for turtles, iguanas, Phil Sailfin lizards, a Burmese python, rabbits, and koi fishes. Entrance fee is at P50 per person.

😳 We carried a Burmese python, weighing 200 pounds! Now, that's what you call teamwork! Aja!

2.  Go-Karts!

   Also worth checking out and my ultimate fave is the Go-Karts! A fleet of go-karts recently arrived in the Island so kids and adults alike can pedal around the premises for P100 for every 15-minutes.

3. The King Crawler

It is a vertical urban play structure which combines several functions including different types of climbing opportunities has been made safer for the children with the installation of colorful rubber flooring (EPDM) to minimize the possibility of accidents.

4.  Mermaid Swim Experience

I have a slight obsession with mermaids so I was super happy to experience something new. My dream to become a mermaid came to life because of the Mermaid Swim Experience at the Oceania Swim & Splash Park in Island Cove. Together with my friends, Marj and Ruth, my mermaid dreams when I was younger came true. Yay!

Professional Mermaid instructors taught us the basics like the proper breathing techniques and how to glide with a fishtail underwater. It's not for mermaid wanna-bes though, and you really should know the basic swimming skills. It's also ideal for those who want to improve their skills in the water. What we wore: a highly elastic mermaid monotails that's made of neoprene but they also have tails made of a lighter and softer fabric that are colorful, comfortable and easy to wear. Of course, you can take lots of souvenir pictures of your mermaid or "Escabeche" pose. 😂 My mermaid swim experience in Island Cove was nothing short of magical. Super fun! 👍

Starting this March, fairy tales will come true at the Oceania Swim and Splash Park. Expect to see mermaids flapping their fins during the Mermaid Swim Experience. It's your chance to don a tail and learn how to swim like a mermaid. Each session runs for two hours.

5. Fit Club Fitness Journey

    And because healthy is the new sexy, Island Cove wants to help with your wellness goals. A body transformation challenge is in the works. Dubbed as the Fit Club Fitness Journey, it aims to reward those with the biggest weight loss.

6.  The Bayside Deck

 It is the latest addition to Island Cove’s inventory of function areas. Overlooking Manila Bay, yet air-conditioned, the 170-seater is perfect for events on sweltering days.

7. Kamayan sets  at the Fishing Village

    The Fishing Village expanded its menu with its Kamayan sets good for 6 to 8 persons. The appetizing bundles encourage you to eat with your hands. Here’s a sample of the sumptuous feast: Sizzling Seafood, Sinigang na Bangus, Crispy Pata, Kare-kare, Barbeque Pork Belly, Pancit Bihon, Pritong Hito, Bagoong Rice, Lumpiang Sariwa and Leche Flan. There are three sets to choose from, price ranges from P2,800 to 3,300. Seriously, eat this! Oh, and don't forget to try the Bacon Barbecue, Sizzling Sisig and Sinigang na Lechon sa Miso! Sarap, besh!

8. New Dishes at Sangley Point

Its Western cuisine menu has been spiced up with new dishes too. My personal favorites are: Starters Platter, Buffalo Chicken Burger, Linguine al Vongole, Rigatoni al Salmone, and the Madras Style Vegetable Curry.

Several promos are in the pipeline but those that have already been launched are the following:
  

 

•    Stay for 2 consecutive nights and get 20% off on your second night. Valid for weekday stays until February 28, 2018.

•    For the whole month of February, get 20% off on the entrance fee (P300 kids, P370 adults) at Oceania Swim and Splash Park during weekdays.

 

•    On all weekends of February, avail of free round trip shuttle service from SM City Bacoor to the Fishing Village during lunch and dinner hours.

•    Until March 15, 2018, checked-in hotel guests can get up to 15% discount plus a free pitcher of iced tea when dining at the restaurants.

    There will be more throughout this year-long celebration of their 20th anniversary.
