Turn your Average Pancakes into Fun Cakes with the new Maya Pancake & Baking Mix

Hello, 2016!

Who made a resolution to make more home cooked meals and eat out less, eat (and never skip) breakfast, bake cakes from scratch and have more bonding time with the kids? Well, I commend you, if you did. I know that most people make healthy or getting back in shape resolutions, but I plan on challenging myself with my baking skills instead. Hopefully, you’ll be seeing more tiny edible masterpieces soon!

My daughter is growing up too fast and while she's getting excited to be a big sister, she thinks everything is baby-ish, and it can be embarrassing at times. But every so often in that sweet, little voice of her, she asks for her favorite Mickey Mouse pancakes that makes me realize she's still my baby girl.

That's why I've decided to make some Fun Cakes with my daughter. If you thought eating regular pancake was a good time, you're in for a real treat. Because never before has pancake been this fun and yummy! Actually, making Fun Cakes is one of the little things that make being a mommy fun and it's the best reason to get up early on a Monday.

This winner of a recipe, which I got from the Newgen Baker website, is the perfect start to my New Year's resolution. I used my daughter's Mickey Mouse obsession to make a recipe that turns an average pancake into FUN Cakes with the new Maya Pancake & Baking Mix.

Here are the ingredients;

2 eggs
2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 2/3 cups of  water
1 box of the new Maya Pancake & Baking Mix

This pancake is made like any other pancake, only better, tastier and fluffier! Thanks to Maya Pancake & Baking Mix and I'm really glad we have a few boxes in stock. Yes, we stock boxes in the kitchen and rely on it for baking and making pancakes.

First, we mixed all ingredients in a bowl until free of big lumps.

Then, Maia poured the pancake batter onto a preheated, lightly greased pan. I helped her cook them until bubbly and I also did the flipping, which makes me a wee bit closer to my dream of becoming a pancake flip master!  :)

We also used a plastic squeeze bottle to make super-artsy, no-mess pancakes. Just fill up the wide-mouth squeeze bottle with batter, then squeeze out precise portions. Have a little fun with it by creating letters ( xoxo is Maia's favorite) cute faces, shapes, and other edible works of art.

After all the squeezing and flipping, Maia cut out the shapes of different Disney characters using the plastic cookie cutters.

Then I watched as our plain and boring pancake turns into a cute masterpiece. If you have metal cutters or silicone mold, batter can be directly poured to hot skillet to get the shape of the cutters.

We decorated our Maya Fun cakes to perfection by adding maple syrup, some fruits and of course, added more pancakes. Say hello to our Fun Cake Tower! Obviously, there is no such thing as too many pancakes.

You can also top it with chocolate syrup, yogurt, whipped cream, heaps of fruit, or whatever decorations you like.

Just the mere sight of this Fun Cake Tower is enough to bring your taste buds pure pancakey happiness. Yes?

This treat is definitely every kid's ( and kid-at-heart's) dream of a perfect breakfast or snacks, and I think people of all ages should indulge in a slice of this pancake heaven. Because, as we all know, it's a fact that you can never be too old to enjoy making Fun Cakes and Fun Cake Tower. This recipe is super easy to do and Maia really enjoyed making them.

So go ahead and try making one for breakfast because this Fun Cake is not only fun to eat, but it is fun to make too.
