Uniqlo employee volunteers during the painting and construction of GawadKalinga houses |
"This is our own way of giving back to the
community” says Joanna Perlas, Asst Marketing Manager, who’s also one of the
volunteers..
"This is a big help for us. We love the
new look of our homes,'' says Leah Reyes, one of the residents in the 10 units
that was being repainted.
Aside from repainting the houses, UNIQLO
volunteers helped in building raw houses in the area. "We want to change
the world in our small way through the help of community members," addsPerlas.
UNIQLO's corporate social responsibility is
anchored on the philosophy which aims to change the world through the power of
clothing.
Now with 21 branches and counting nationwide,
UNIQLO is also active in its recycling campaign to benefit typhoon victims, and
supports special Olympics.
