20 Ways You Can Be The Best Friend Ever

The best friend is the man who in wishing me well wishes it for my sake.

Aristotle penned these words to begin my favorite of his famous words of wisdom.  This is an apt description of friendship, though.  In fact, there are days when all of this is true.  {Can I get a witness?}

Life feels like a full contact sport sometimes.  It can bring us the greatest joy but, as we’ve entered the growing years full on, you may find yourself in tears wondering how hard life is.  This is the best time to realize the benefits of having a best friend or by simply being one. The best friend ever.

Here are 20 ways you can be the best friend ever;

1.  Help him/her remember to celebrate the successes, whether it’s potty training her baby or closing a deal.  A friend needs this because there are days when all you see is a messy room.

2. Share laughs, or better yet, make your best friend laugh. A lot! A real best friend sees the difference between a fake smile and the real one. So when you try to make them laugh, make sure those are the real ones. :)

3.  Make your friends' problems YOUR problems, so they don't have to go through them alone. If your friend is going through a rough time, help her in any way possible.

4.  Make the good times better and the hard times easier. One of my wise friends told me a few months ago, “Don’t take it personally.”  In my head, I know she’s right.  But it’s hard not to take it personally when someone hurts your feelings. But a simple LOL moment can change that.

5.  Tell the truth about whether he/she looks good in something or not. Without worrying he/she'll be offended.

6. Switch off being the Blair of your friendship. Try to be extra nice most of the time.

7.  Always be there for your friend, whether him/her throwing up in a bar, crying and making some stupid things.

8.  Give a killer wedding toast at your best friend's wedding. And make mental notes of jokes to include.

9.  Schedule a fun bff pigout date and be completely unselfconscious after some serious carbo-loading or ice cream binging.

10. Like her Facebook pictures. It's probably one you're in. Probably one of many or 99% of the time. Or you can write an old-fashioned snail mail to your best friend with a seal like in Harry Potter. Show an honest appreciation every chance you get.

11. Post a BFF selfie on Facebook or Instagram even if you look bad, as long as your bff looks hot.  As for me, my best friend is someone who, like me, is wondering if there is enough hair color available to keep us looking somewhat decent in our selfies through the years.

12. Don't think twice about speaking on behalf of each other. “My bff doesn’t like sprinkles on her cupcake." :D

14.  Don't keep secrets. Be open about what's going on in your life and what you hear about other people.

15. Don't gossip about your best friend. Don't say anything that might turn into a rumor.

16. Say "no" when you need to while still being their friend. A friend of integrity is of great value.  Don’t be scared to disagree no matter how difficult it may be.

17. Stick up for your best friend. Sitting and watching your best friend get bullied or picked on  is definitely not going to earn you a "best friend" badge!

18.  Learn to listen. Nobody likes a best friend who is a chatterbox, someone who just talks and talks, but never listens.

19. Memorize her phone number ( and GoUnli20 ) by heart. Why? Simply because a real friend calls. Be consistently available. You must always be "on call" even about the dumbest things. To yay or nay potential clothing purchases, probably.

Get the GoUNLI20 and call your friend!
With GoUnli20, it’s now easy to call without a need for a prefix and it’s just P20 for unli calls, 15mb of mobile surfing, and 20 texts to all networks! Kaya if you need a friend, don’t call me, I’ll call you! More on:  http://www.globe.com.ph/prepaid/gounli20

20. Last but not the least, accept the person as they are, as an individual, without conditions.

To all the beautiful people who visit my blog and share pieces of themselves, thank you for being you and for accepting me, just as I am.

Let me know if you have anything to add to the list.
