In the story, Barbie stars as Kristyn Farraday who is an aspiring ballerina and a hardworking ballet dancer but the lead roles always end up going to Tara. While Kristyn is practicing for a showcase, Madame Natasha reprimands her for not following directions. This brought down Kristyn’s confidence and made her feel like a failure. In order to make herself feel better, she decided to get a new pair of ballet shoes. She visits the wardrobe mistress, Madame Katarina who gives her a pari of bright pink ballet shoes. When Kristyn puts the shoes on, she is transformed to a fantasy land of classical ballet sets. There, she realizes that she needs to keep dancing her favorite ballets in order to defeat the wicked Snow Queen.

Here's my take on the movie:
For toddlers less than 2 years old, they obviously won't understand the whole story although it was lighthearted and simple. However, they will surely be drawn in and awestruck by the beautiful music, magical dancing and colorful ballerinas.
On the other hand, preschoolers like my daughter will surely be on their feet dancing on their own Barbie ballerina way, whisked away to a pink-tastic world of ballet. My daughter was wide-eyed the whole time and she really enjoyed the movie. The animation was quite impressive with a good yet simple storyline. In the midst of all the classical music, the movie is a big hit for older kids as they will surely find it empowering to follow their dreams as they watch Kristyn becomes successful even when she can't seem to follow the choreography. The main characters in the movie, Kristyn and Hailey, who are stuck in the world of Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Snow Queen, reveal plot details and characters from each of the classic dances. Also, the song "Keep on Dancing" is so inspiring and gave us a huge dose of LSS. :)

Wow Barbie! My daughter used to like this before, but now she's into Korean actors and actresses, how time flies, she has collections of Barbie dolls and named it fro A to Z. Now, she's 14 years old, I wonder if she still enjoys watching Barbie show, how time pass by! ♥
