@Home: Where Greatness Starts

I would like to share a short story about my child's greatest moment of achievement and where it all started.

Being a mommy blogger, I use internet a lot that is why we are Tattoo-powered and we got Globe Tattoo Broadband at home. While I'm busy blogging, my four-year-old daughter is busy downloading apps like fancy art drawing and stuff from my iPhone. One day, she asked for crayons, colored pens and paper because she said she would like to draw the cat she saw on my phone. I gave her what she asked for and after a few hours, she gave me the paper with a big, silly grin on her face shouting, "Mommy, I'm done!". At first, I thought it was just a crude drawing of a cat. But I'm quite amazed and I was deeply touched when I saw that it was a drawing of a heart with a stickman that looks a bit like me, her dad and of course her, as SuperMaia.

I believe it's one of the prettiest piece of art I have ever seen. Priceless.

In her drawing, she said she's a superhero and she always tells me that she's going to save Mommy and Daddy from the bad guys and the monsters too. :) Of course, I honestly believe she's a superhero. She's so awesome I can't help but to believe her! I'm just waiting for her to turn into a Super Saiyan though. :)

Seriously, she has the power. The power to make me smile, to make me happy & proud and most of all, to inspire me to become a better mommy.

Believe it or not, I also used to think I was a superhero when I was a child. And I'm glad I am where I am today because I had someone who believed in me. I guess every mom or dad should know and do that as well 'cause every child deserves that chance.  I can imagine myself having a faith so strong to genuinely believe her in becoming a superhero. So I just let her act and think like one. Simply because a superhero is not afraid to fail, to help and to inspire people. I know it could be her stepping stone to achieving greater things in life.

Like Tattoo@Home, I also believe that nurturing a child’s potential can lead to achieving greatness. And the best place to start the road to greatness is at home!

Remember, my dear, great achievement equals superpower. There's a great power behind everyone. Everyone is destined for greatness. Some fall short due to lack of faith or by simply being complacent, and even a little child who wants to be a superhero has the potential to achieve great things in life.

As parents, we just need the determination and will power to go that extra mile in nurturing our children to achieve great actions, as well as to see some unseen potential to shape his or her destiny. Not all great things are created by power... it has to be felt by the heart. That is common sense at its finest. Although, I'm guessing common sense is so rare these days, it should be classified as a superpower. I wonder when they'll have their own action figures. LOL Seriously, all parents have a superpower. It's called '"supermom's super instinct" or "superdad's extreme vision" to see their own child's talents a.k.a. superpowers. Let's use it to save the planet from those lacking the ability to see the greatness of their own children. At home, we'll be the voices encouraging them to continue to do what they love to do and to never stop cheering them on until they reach the heights of greatness. Needless to say, the seed of greatness in a child begins to blossom when the parents is there to nurture and water it. All it takes is 1 degree of extra effort to let our child cross over into greatness.

As for me, I won't dare, for one more second, surround her with people who are not aware of the greatness that she has! And if ever someone says that my baby girl is not capable of greatness, I'll tell him/her to have a seat at our sofa because we have several seats _/ _/ _/ _/ (even the best seat in the house) where I can show them why I'm such a proud momma. Hah! That said, I will never give my trust to anyone who is undeserving of all the greatness that my daughter has. 'Cause settling for anything less and any ounce of negative thinking is not cute.

Now, here's my SuperMaia. See her in action. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink... you might miss it! *wink*

Did you see that? :)

Ok, I'm thinking of a cute caption for this one but I guess no caption can describe the greatness of this vid. Can't blame me eh? B'cause I'm her mom! :)

As a mom, I always try to motivate and teach her to take joy in every little things that she achieves, as well as appreciate her efforts for achieving the small things that she's doing at home. It's the little things that make a BIG difference, and those things, however small, makes her closer to achieving her goals. Also, it makes me one heck of a proud momma so let me brag about her for a moment here. I think my kid is pretty awesome because she's really good in memory games that she downloaded all by herself on my phone, as well as in drawing and a lot of artsy, fancy stuff. She also likes reading books and learning new things. Would you believe cleaning our house, washing the dishes or folding the clothes are some of our bonding time at home? More than that, she has a nice personality. She's very friendly, cheerful and she NEVER try to bully or fight with other kids. She also knows how to say "I'm sorry, mommy." when she knows she has done something wrong. I seriously think that those things are worth bragging about and with how she imbibes these values in such a tender age, I see a lot of potential in her.

I believe that God has blessed me with so many great things and great people. That definitely includes my daughter. There's no rush to her journey to greatness though, I just gotta let her take one small step at a time.

Now, here's how my superhero goes back to being my little, sweet girl, Maia. :)

Indeed, home is where greatness begins. Also, every child is created to be more than average. At home, there's a room full of potential, and there's nothing, but greatness of epic proportions. God gives us home for us to measure our greatness in terms of the quantity and quality of love we are able to show our children. Discover their gifts and talents. Unlock their potential. Tap into their greatness! Just look closely to whatever they enjoy doing at home, depending on which elemental "superpower" he/she is currently channeling at the moment. ;)

I truly believe naming your child with a unique but powerful name sets the pace for them to be exceptional. That is why, at home, I call her SuperMaia. She is Tattoo-powered, an artist and a superhero at heart. :) True story.

Singing in Style: Zia Quizon Shares Her Music

Last night, I attended Zia Quizon's First Bloggers Night and I must say, I'm quite impressed with her voice. It sounds way better live than it does on cd.  I can't believe I actually had a good night with some good quality music! She's indeed a stylized singer whom I love, and she definitely gets in the top 10 for vocal ability. Her voice is so unique and overall beyond amazing. True talent.

Zia Quizon is making a name for herself in the music industry with her unquestionable vocal ability, charming personality and her catchy tunes. Our 20-year-old sultry singer is on her way to the top with three hit singles “Simple Girl”, “Ako Na Lang” and “Dear Lonely” culled from her self-titled debut album released by PolyEast Records.

Show business runs in the family for ZIA QUIZON (Zia Denise Marie Padilla Quizon). Born to showbiz royalties on September 23, 1991, this 20-year-old new artist on the block is the youngest daughter of the Comedy King Dolphy and the Divine Diva Ms. Zsa Zsa Padilla. She studies in La Salle majoring in English Literature.

As for me, one of the best part of waking up is listening to good, relaxing music. I guess life without music would be very depressing. I believe the music industry wants fresh and unique music from new artists. Zia Quizon is definitely one of them. I love the feeling I get whenever I listen to her, it's like taking a new breath of fresh air from the music scene.

My favorite of all. No fakey, stylized runs, just all truth-get-real-and-just-chill kind of song. I also love her own rendition of the song "Mambobola". Stunning, STUNNING rendition!

Zia's album kicked off with “Ako Na Lang”, composed and produced by Mr. Jungee Marcelo. Following the success of the first single “Ako Na Lang” which marked eight weeks on top ten radio charts and MYX charts in 2011, she’s now ready to repeat the process.

Awesome Taglish lyrics+incredible song+ catchy tunes+ pretty face= A perfect brew to a fresh exciting music :)

Different sound. So calming and so different from the strong or "birit" voice everyone is used to. To me, I dig her so I'm into her music. I like the whole package. And the lyrics. Just something fresh. Just pure amazing. Sometimes it's ok to dare to be different because we were born an "original" and we shouldn't live in this world or die as a "copy" (worse, if it's a pirated copy). It makes me want to be different so I’ve decided that from now on, I want to get in shape. A different shape. Just like the shape of a potato. LOL I guess sometimes when you try so hard to be different, you end up like everyone else. Yun lang. :/

Oh well, as for Zia, being original comes effortlessly. She's original, unique and different. Although her voice is so unique. It's got something so different and raw about it. That's what makes her so special. What makes her different, makes her beautiful.

While she was singing on stage last night, her "stagemom" Zsazsa Padilla a.k.a the Divine Diva, was taking a video of her while wiping her tears away. That was a very touching, honest and moving moment. *tears galore* Ms. Zsazsa padilla said the song "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" made her cry... (brought tears to my eyes too).

Also, giving credits to her very supportive dad, Dolphy, a contemporary classic piece “Smile,” becomes a more-than-promising start for the young artist reviving Michael Jackson’s version. Sharing her
musical influences, Zia said “Aside from my mom, I would say that my dad’s taste in music really shaped mine. He influenced me to appreciate the classics—from standards to classical to world Music and even oldies.”

“I’m proud to say that all the songs in the album were arranged to my style of singing. My producers made sure I was comfortable with singing the songs in the album,” Zia added.

This memorable six-track includes three original composition and three revivals. Borrowing a song which led her mom, ZsaZsa Padilla, to the height of her career in the 80s, “Mambobola” is one of the album’s highlights. Zia said, “We were throwing some ideas around and I think I actually suggested the song myself. I felt that it would be very nice to have one of my mom’s songs on the album as a kind of tribute to her for all of the things she has done for me.

Her voice leaves me speechless, mesmerized, and hypnotized. It has an acquired taste and if her voice isn't anointed, I don't know what is. I like it a lot, and it's something I'd listen to often.

Grab Zia’s self-titled debut album. It is now available in stores near you released by PolyEast Records. You can also download Zia’s songs on www.MyMusicStore.com.ph. Be different & be original but most of all, be real.

One Fun Day at Active Fun

Got stoned for the first time today. And when I say stoned, I mean my kid and other crazy ones at the playground threw soft balls at me till I passed out.We had fun though and I'm glad Miss Apple Morales, the pretty owner of AM Global Marketing, gave us a sweet treat to try out their play center, Active Fun, at one of their branches in SM North.

I love indoor playgrounds because I hate how bipolar the weather is right now. When we headed out this morning, it was so hot outside but at around 7ish, it was raining and you can REALLY feel the cold breeze.

In the heat of the summer, or even during the rainy season, it's so nice to get the kids out the house but still some fun place like Active Fun where there's ample air conditioning.

Active Fun is a great place for tots to play and to have your kids' party or other special celebration. Located in SM North Annex, this play center is aimed at children 12 and under. They have something for kids of all ages. The place is clean, spacious, and very kid-friendly. It features a huge multi-level play structure with a ball pit, tunnels, bridges, a 12-metre slide, climbers, a soft mat baby area and more. This is a great place for toddlers to engage in independent play. I also like the fact that kids are closely supervised by their very friendly and well trained staff.

While the kids play, parents can chill (yeah, that's the word) and watch over their kids by simply sitting from the Lounge which primarily serves snacks, with its range of gourmet teas, coffees and snacks. Of course, I didn't miss the chance of eating our favorite healthy snacks, Soyami Soya Chips and my all-time fave bread styx while waiting for Maia to get tired! :)

Their party area makes it the best place to celebrate birthdays and special occasions for children and they can work around their client's budget. Let them do all the work so you can sit back and enjoy the party!

Oh and the 12-metre slide rocks! I cringed at the thought of my tot sliding down that looong slide but I was pleased to see her having so much fun with that gigantic slide.
Hands up for my babycakes!
To be honest, it makes me wonder and I still can't figure out what chemical in the human body makes kids at this play place more and more energetic as the day goes by. #seriously These little monsters, I mean munchkins, are unbelievable! LOL

Here's a series of random pictures I took of kids havin' fun.

I see the pictures, I see the smiles. I love them. The same reason why we have Shutter Count Photography.

At Shutter Count, we love taking loads of pictures then looking through loads of old pictures, as well as being reminded that at one point in time, we made them smile. We love bringing back the happy memories. 'Cause memories and pictures don't fade like time or change like the people in them, they're always there. We just have to cherish them 'cause in the end, it's all we're left with. You know, you change, I change, people change. But pictures stay the same, memories remain forever. I can always crop someone out of the pictures I take, but I can never crop someone out of the memories we once shared. Though it's kinda sad how people nowadays take pictures, not for memories, but to post them on Facebook and get comments. Hoh well.. #realitybites

That said, a bunch of our event photography is now uploaded on our fan page and blog site. Please check it out and give us a Like if you enjoy these pics! :)
My little girl was wondering where these balls were coming from ;p
It's all fun and games until the fat kid joined the pile on. This boy shouted "Ahhhhh!", and I bet that he would love to just take a needle and watch the other kid deflate. Haha Jk.

A wonderful world of wonder
Hyper happy, restless kids. Burning off some pent up energy!
I couldn't miss a pretty face. :)
I always wonder why these kids are so photogenic. Whenever they smile for pictures, they look perfect. So why is it that when I smile for pictures, I look like a nervous horse? Not fair! ;p
This girl is too charming, threw a soft ball on her and she gave me the cutest smile ever!
All smiles!
My big ball of happiness! Wasted, exhausted yet happy after a fun day!
I really can't stop looking at these pictures. They're all sorts of awesome.

Not enough pictures though.. but a whole lot of memories. :) Just so you know, I found their smiles, then I snapped the pictures. Finally, I'd blog, jot down the words and write down the memories, so that I won't forget it forever. :)

Overall, we both enjoyed our fun play date at Active Fun and will definitely go back. I absolutely love this place. Running, bouncing, and being being silly with my kiddo is insanely fun! My four year old had a blast for well over 3.5 hours. Hah! Beat that!

Tagged as "open for FUN 365 days a year", it's open 7 days a week, even on public holidays. You just won't miss it! Now here's some Rockstarmomma F.A.T. (Fact. Advice. Tip.) that I would lurve to share with other mommies:

Fact: Kids are active by nature and eager to explore fun things. They just want to play and have fun. It benefits them in every way: physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. Play has a crucial role in the optimal growth, learning and development of children.

Advice: Don’t forget your cozy & comfy socks because they do not allow shoes, even on nonbouncing adults. I suggest you pack some fuzzy slipper socks instead of the regular socks because the stairs can be slippery. Being an OC mom, I can't help but run after Maia so I almost slipped and hurt my arse. Oh and don't forget to use their hand sanitizer. Children should wash their hands before and after playtime to reduce the risk of spreading germs. OCness much! :)

Tip: Adult supervision is a must. Also, you might want to bring your kids on weekdays as the place can get really crowded on weekends. Especially on Sunday. Believe me, this is party central on weekends. Also, never limit kids' play time. Limiting "play time" for kids is kinda cruel if you ask me. Once they hit 18, it's all going down from there. I say, let them have all the fun they can!

In celebration of Christian Bautista’s 10th anniversary in showbiz, Universal Records is releasing his highly-anticipated First Class: Outbound Expanded Edition album. This CD, which has a limited edition coffee table book, includes nine new tracks, five hits from the original Outbound, and new recording of his earlier hits Hands To Heaven and The Way You Look At Me.
