Acer Power Tech Showcase 2012: Exploring Beyond Limits

I was able to attend Acer Power Tech Showcase 2012 that was held at the Manila Marriot Hotel in Pasay City. The executives and representatives of Acer launched their new line of Ultrabooks like the Acer Aspire S5 ultrabook and the Acer Iconia Tab A510 Olympic Games Edition.

Photo shows Manuel Wong(6th from left), General Manager of Acer Philippines Inc. flanked by models showcasing the latest product innovations of Acer.  Highlight of the Acer Tech show yesterday was the introduction of S5, Acer’s latest ultrabook model.

The world's thinnest Ultrabook looks as beautiful as expected and performs like no one ever imagined.
Oh yes!  Slim is in!
Introducing the Aspire S5: the critically acclaimed 11-mm-thin notebook computer launched in the Philippines today by tech pioneer Acer. At once a spectacular design feat and an advanced technological breakthrough, the Acer Aspire S5 marks a great leap forward for users who are looking for a computing device that, quite simply, is a cut above the rest.

The new Ultrabook, which starred at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show 2012 in Las Vegas, packs a stunning set of performance features in its razor-thin frame. It combines the power of a third-generation Intel® Core™ processor, the lightning-fast responsiveness of Acer Green Instant On, the smart performance of the new MagicFlip I/O port panel, and the seamless connectivity of the Acer Always Connect.
The Acer Aspire S5 is indeed a cut above the rest, bringing lightning-fast speed and rock-solid performance in a beautiful, razor-thin package.
Strong-as-steel design, lightning-fast performance Only 11 mm thin and 1.3 kg light, the Aspire S5 represents a new experience in mobile computing—one that unfolds anywhere at any time, on demand and on the go. It also sets new trends in the way laptops should look and feel. The Ultrabook's gorgeous aluminum/magnesium alloy chassis showcases not only Acer's attention to detail, but also its dedication to creating strong-as-steel, distinctly styled machinery. Fluid curves, exquisite detailing, and multiple aluminum textures give the Aspire S5's slender form factor a touch of elegance; the aerodynamics-inspired design elements and onyx-black clamshell shape, meanwhile, contribute to the notebook's extra seamless feel and enhanced thermal efficiency.

The Acer Aspire S5, which made its debut as the world's thinnest Ultrabook, utilizes every millimeter to unify its multiple innovations in hardware. This begins with a dazzling 13.3-inch LED-backlit screen, which boasts of high-definition 1366 by 768 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) and savvily integrates itself with the Aspire S5's protective frame, thus cutting bezel thickness by approximately a third. To match the screen's eye-catching visuals, the Aspire S5 comes with the professionally-tuned Dolby® Home Theater® v4 audio suite, which applies surround sound and dialogue enhancement technologies for a cinematic listening experience. Under the notebook's multi-gesture touchpad and chiclet keyboard, meanwhile, is a high-density (yet lightweight) lithium-polymer battery, custom-shaped to fit the chassis and engineered to last up to 6.5 hours on a single charge.

With the Aspire S5, users can create and edit documents 3.97 times faster, open and view files 5.29 times faster, and edit videos 2.57 times faster. Acer's Green Instant On technology,  meanwhile, allows the computer to resume from sleep in less than 1.5 seconds, as well as restore data and remain on standby for up to 80 days without restarting, shutting down, or charging. The Ultrabook is also equipped with the Acer Always Connect feature, which is designed to deliver Internet connectivity speed of up to 4 times faster than that of traditional notebook computers, while automatically updating Web-based applications like Internet Explorer and Microsoft® Outlook. Just to make sure that the Aspire S5 doesn't end up in the wrong hands, a security and protection tool called Acer Theft Shield sends a message and sounds off an alarm whenever an unidentified person attempts to move the notebook. These premium features in Acer's newest Ultrabook showcase the future of tech design and innovation—a future ready to be explored and experienced today.

  1. I haven't had the chance to try out an Acer tablet yet- not for lack of opportunity. I just tend to be loyal to another brand and every time I go into a store, I gravitate to their offerings. I may have a look at Acer's tablet next time.
