Preggy Update @ 38!

Your baby continues to grow this week and weighs about 6.8 pounds. His crown-to-rump length is still about 14 inches and total length is around 21 inches. Most women do not grow any larger during the last few weeks of their pregnancy. From the top of your uterus to your bellybutton is about 6.5 to 7 inches. You may be very uncomfortable now-you are almost there!
Just before real labor contractions start, you might notice false labor contractions. These should not be confused with Braxton-Hicks contractions. False labor contractions can be as strong as real labor contractions, but do not get closer and may go away if you get up to walk around. Contractions help dilate the cervix and encourage your water to break. Your baby could be born any day now, but only 5% of mothers deliver on their actual due date!

Hoh well, I have given up trying to force myself back to sleep.. instead, I wake up and catch up on e-mails and do some catching up on my blog. If I’m lucky, I fall back asleep sometime around 7:30 or 8 and get another hour or so of sleep in before “officially” starting the day. My so-called "working" with my blog, playing with my brother's baby boy and hanging out at my bro's gym has been my daily routine for the last few weeks.

Things I Love This Week:
Nothing in particular… just foods like siomai, pasta, etc. but I resist to be tempted to eat a lot because I'm afraid my baby will get so big and I might have a c-section. Woh no! Also, imagining what it’ll be like to see my baby for the first time keeps me happy and has proved to be the single most beneficial thing for my sanity and overall well-being. amp!

Things I hate this week: In other bodily fluid news… I’ll spare you a full blog entry with all the gross and tasty details for having another projectile recurrent episodes of diarrhea all week. The worst parts about it: 1) it happened not once, not twice but thrice, 2) it involved perfectly good, really yummy food. :) I was given meds by my OB-gyne and I think it worked! Now, I'm having just the opposite of it...constipation! amp! Plus! I also hate the fact that approximately 5% of my clothes actually fit me. amp!

I just had another check up today and so far, my baby's still high, my cervix is still closed and I guess she's still taking her sweet time inside my womb. *sigh* So I decided that I badly needed to go for a walk … plus, that’s supposed to help get things moving. And after some few trips climbing up and down the stairs, few minutes of treadmill, I felt really woozy,out-of-it and tired and got nothing other than a sore back and feet later. Waaah! But I did feel a little better mentally. So I guess that was worth it eh? I still plan on spending more time on the treadmill, trying to walk her out. Just like what you see in this pix. lol Isn't she cute? haha

Actually, when I'm walking, I get tired easily. Tired physically. Tired of being pregnant. Ready to hold my baby in my arms instead of in my belly. Feeling like every day she is still inside is one less day for her to get to know her mommy and daddy. So I just try talking to her, hoping we can make a good deal about her grand entrance no matter how silly and crazy it sounds. lol I keep telling her to keep kicking, to be strong and healthy, to behave so that the she won't have a cord coil and if it in case it happened, which I hope not, I know she'll be real smart enough to untie it...hehe I also tell her that even though it seems futile right now, there is actually a trap door at the bottom and if she stands on her head (wooot! wooot! I bet my baby's going to be a good gymnast someday for doing some headstands!) and if she hits it just the right way, it opens up! We both have to be really really patient, though coz it can take months or maybe over 40 weeks to find, (actually 38 weeks now to be exact) but I'm sure she's a smart lil girl and she'll soon find it and she’ll make her way out safely. :) Yeah baby!

  1. I understand how you feel. I was very "inip" na on the last stretch of my pregnancy and just want my baby out. But trust me, it's the last long stretches of sleep that you'll have, so enjoy it now! Of course, the baby is all worth it.
