Philips Unveils Breastfeeding Week Philippines Art Exhibit at SM Aura

The turning point for any woman is motherhood. This milestone is often defined by the joy of breastfeeding. Nudged by hospitals and breastfeeding advocates, more and more moms are now breastfeeding their infants. It's about time, too. Babies get fantastic immunity through breast milk which boosts baby's IQ. As a mom who also breastfed for a few months, I never doubt the power of breastfeeding. So kudos to all breastfeeding moms, for making a difference and for caring for your child more than the looks of society.

Philips, a global advocate of breastfeeding, celebrates World Breastfeeding Week. The First Philippine Pediatric Society Annual Breastfeeding Congress happened last August 1 and 2 at the St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City. Targeted for healthcare professionals, the congress featured talks by leading medical practitioners headed by Philippine Pediatric Society’s Dr. Cristina Bernardo.

“Philips is very excited to be part of this year’s celebration of World Breastfeeding Week. Through these exciting activities, we hope to help raise awareness about the joys of motherhood and be one with fellow advocates of breastfeeding,” Philips Health and Wellness Business Development Manager Me-Ann Achacoso said. Philips is known for advocating breastfeeding through its innovative Philips Breast Pump.

Philippine Pediatric Society Breastfeeding Committee Chairman Dr. Cristina Bernardo shared that “It is our pleasure to be in partnership with St. Luke’s and Philips for this year’s World Breastfeeding Week. The importance of breastfeeding to newborns cannot be overstated, and this is something that all of the participants in the congress understand.”

Also in line with World Breastfeeding Week, Philips unveiled an art exhibit with the theme of breastfeeding at the SM Aura. The exhibit, entitled “Breastfeeding Week Philippines,” features the works of artists Khristina Manansala and Raqs Molata and will run from August 2 to 8 at the SM Aura Level 1 Atrium. SM Aura is also one of the partners in the exhibit.

Top executives of SM, Philippine Pediatric Society officials and Angelia Oh who is the General Manager of Philips Electronics and Lighting, Inc., led the ribbon cutting ceremony.

  2. I never doubted to breastfeed even though I'm a college mom. I'm a busy graduating student that time and now working, but I still continue breastfeeding my baby. No wonder why he's so smart and strong baby right now.

  3. Nice painting. Very inspiring. I love all the benefits of breastfeeding and I really recommend all mothers to do it.
Studies have demonstrated a number of important health benefits to breastfeeding. Among them:
Breast-fed children are more resistant to disease and infection early in life than formula-fed children
Breast-fed children are less likely to contract a number of diseases later in life, including juvenile diabetes, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and cancer before the age of 15
Mothers who breastfeed are less likely to develop osteoporosis later in life, are able to lose weight gained during pregnancy more easily and have a lower risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer.

Breastfeeding Week Philippines art exhibit was really indeed something to support.
