Into the Woods Inspired Fashion

Have you watched one of the Oscar nominated films of this season, Into The Woods? Saw it over the weekend and I cannot stop obsessing about how amazing Meryl Streep is. I also love the inconceivably intricate designs and brilliant, one-of-a-kind costumes. Amazeballs!

So, I decided to recreate a mom-and-daughter OOTD version of fairy tale looks inspired by the film Into the Woods.

To those who haven’t seen the movie,  it's a mish-mash of fairytales and catchy lyrics right into Sondheim’s magical world deep within thickets of forest. It's a story of a Baker and his wife who will only be guaranteed a child in their future if they help the witch (played by the extremely talented Meryl Streep) to which she would then release the curse she had put on their family. His task is to get the "slipper that is pure as gold” which is what we all know as Cinderella's glass slippers.

I'd like to do a baker's wife kinda look or the witch but I prefer Cinderella-ish 'cause sometimes it all boils down to that childish dream of becoming a princess for a day.

What I wore: Whimsical tulle skirt, which I felt was oh-so-Cindy on a foggy afternoon. Cue tons of lush green moss, pine trees and birds chirping.

Often times, I tend to keep my wardrobe rather simple, usually something black or white. For a person that really likes black, there is bound to be a very scarce amount of something colorful in my wardrobe. So a touch of dusty blue against white is a perfect way to add a little summer into it!

We took these shots when we had a short vacay in Baguio City. This place is beyond beautiful. It is also a popular destination for tourists, who head there for the beautiful scenery and cold weather. With this kind of natural beauty to be found, who can blame them.

Summer is an ideal time to go there and it's the best time for relaxation. I always find it nice to disconnect a bit from the city (and tech/social media) and reconnect with nature or go to a quiet, calm environment that I don’t visit as much as I’d like.

When in Baguio, there's really no excuse to rock  the Into the Woods look, whether you'd like to be an enchantress, go for a full fairy princess, or whatever makes you happy. However, in reality, life is no fairy tale. It's not easy to find that one thing that'll make you happy.

What makes me (and my daughter) hyper happy? Princess Twirl!

Twirling (barefoot and on tip toes) is underrated. You shouldn't need a reason to grab your little girl and twirl her around and make her feel like a princess. At the end of the day, I'm proud to say that I experience pure, continual joy in what I do and with the people I love the most.

To be honest, it takes things way beyond the happily ever after. Find your own happiness and fill your heart and mind with positive vibes and new creative ideas. After all, no money in the world will buy you a happy ending. :)

Have a happy and blessed week everyone!
